From what I’ve seen among my friends in the clergy and religious who hail from Africa, I’d say America and Europe could be in for a rude awakening.

Many of the cardinals have looked at the prospect of martyrdom, and seen unspeakable poverty and inhumanity. The greed of the “civilized” people of all levels, must seem overwhelming to these good men who have been imprisoned for acts of kindness. The American and European equivocation on evil must seem like something from hell’s own making.

Asia and Africa are the places where the martyrs’ blood grows the saints and the Church.

I still remember the interregium period when the Cardinals were in conclave. Some nitwit CNN reported said that Cardinal Arizne could be the first “African American” pope.

I mean really, she was wrong on some many counts I almost gagged.
I believe Cardinal Arinze would disapoint many on the left as they would quickly find he does not fit their stereotype of how a black person should act. IIRC several members of the Georgetown faculty walked out of his commencement address there becuase he annun iated catholic Teaching on Abortion and homosexuality.

I’m not surprised. It’s because African priests tell it like it is and are not afraid to hurt your feelings in the process. They don’t sugar-coat when it comes to matters of faith and morals.
