I have watched how the process worked, step by step, for the last 40 years. People need institutions they can trust but too many institutions have been led to believe up is down, black is white and good is bad. Why? A skillful marketing plan to make evil a “good.” It’s easier, better, more fun, but, as the article shows, it is destructive to the individuals involved and much of society. There are consequences but people have been gradually poisoned, worn down by an increasingly perverse media that, at its core, is promoting all forms of sexual perversity. Opiates are the opiate of the people. Porn is the opiate of the people, and immoral sex is the opiate of the people. This is evil. It is nihilism born out of a desire to give the devil comfort. “Be the way I want. Reject those religious dictators and let me be your dictator.”

To everyone reading: DO NOT participate. Turn to God. Between life and death, choose life. Stay away from EVIL. Divorce yourself from it. Reject it.

Thanks to the OP.

Don’t forget, Satan is doing all that with God’s silent assent or maybe approval? Nothing can happen, if God does not allow it.

"And in the Christian West, there was general agreement about how society should run."

This author needs to do some serious research in order to avoid such nonsense as the above quote. If the rest of the article is as misguided, then it isn’t useful for much.

Still think that its only been since the 1960s that people have turned inward???
There were people who were “ahead” of the rest, but they were outliers. The majority of people in the US went to church on Sundays. Teen birth rates were not high and most occurred to married women: the illegitimacy rate was a small fraction of what it is now. Most of society in the US supported the traditional lifestyle until the 1960s, in word if not in deed.

One blogger at Abbey Roads approves of Cardinal Caffarra’s talk but faults him for two items he neglected:

“Cardinal Caffarra focused upon two grave sins against the family, abortion and homosexual relationships as equal to marriage. He skips what I’ve always referred to as the ‘original sins’ of our time: artificial contraception and no-fault divorce - the great sexual equalizers, if you will.”

Thank you all for responding to my posting. It gives me comfort to see that there are Catholics who still have the Faith of our Fathers. I enjoy reading all the (name removed by moderator)ut and, in my estimation, the sound answers.

I don’t think these issues will be resolved in this generation, because the current generation has been exposed to these issues as “normal” all along.
When previous generations were growing up, we may have been disobedient, but at least we’d have to admit that what we were doing was wrong. Nowadays, many kids are raised not knowing the basics of what had always been right and wrong.

I think the best thing we can do as Catholics is to raise the next generation in the strong tradition of the Faith. Do not water down the teachings of the Church. The Baltimore Catechism is a good start. Take our kids and grandkids to church regularly. Teach them the sacredness of the Eucharist and God’s commandments. Teach them the value of life. Be good examples of modesty, humility and charity.
Things will eventually turn around. The deviants are slowly being exposed for who they are. Their way of life is not sustainable, but Christianity is.
