Okay, now Elric thinks that it is against the school’s belief to be homosexual or that somehow being homosexual is a sin.
Where did you get this mistaken notion? It certainly isn’t Catholic in origin. You’ve been listening to too many Protestant bible thumpers who have no compassion for people who are different. It smacks of Nazi racial purity attitudes and ill becomes a Christian of any ilk.

HUH??

Where did I get this notion?

Have you actually read this thread or anything on these message boards?

Did you see the documentry in question or even read what this thread is about?

If you can show that homosexuality isnt a sin or immoral as far as cathloics are concerned, I would really love for you to do so. Personally I actually dont have a problem with homosexuals (unless they try to pick me up, which makes me uncomfortable), I have known some that are better people than some cathloics that I have met.

But I also try to respect other peoples beliefs and for Cathloics apparently homosexuality is a sin, so I try to respect that. Unless of course you can prove otherwise.

Homosexuality is a sin in our Catholic Faith. Don’t come on our Boards and lecture us about compassion. Marc Hall, who is openly Gay wants to bring his Gay Lover to a Catholic Prom and you think that is okay?

childofmary is mistaken to believe that homosexuality is a sin according to the Catholic faith. Sexual relations with members of the same sex is considered sinful but not homosexuality itself.
The passage in Leviticus says that it is an abomination. According to a book by a Catholic theologian that I read recently, the word used in the Hebrew refers to ritual uncleanness, not sin. This is akin to saying today that “it’s yucky.” But the word refers to ritual uncleanness the same as of a woman during her period. Also “yucky” as most women would agree. Paul in his letter to the Romans writes against idol worship and the practices common at the time where the men (homosexual or heterosexual) engage in ritual sex together. This is not the same as sexual activity between homosexuals. Again, according to Leviticus “that’s yucky.”
We as Christians are commanded to reserve judgement of others. God sees the heart and we do not. Let’s not conclude that others are greater sinners than we ourselves. That is sinful pride.

I know that the best way to deal with a Troll is to avoid responding directly with them but in this case I can’t help but laugh hysterically

at the ridiculous notion that Homosexuality isn’t a sin.

Homosexual sex is a sin. Homosexuality itself is not. To harass anyone for any reason is also a sin.

Homosexuals are NOT Homosexuality. I said that HOMOSEXUALITY is a sin in the Catholic Faith. Homosexuality is an action. People are not actions. They are nouns.

Homosexuality is more than just who you have sex with. It involves who you find yourself more attracted to on an emotional, psychological, and physical level. If there is no sex it is still not a sin.

You are partially correct. Homosexuality is more than just sex. Just as my heterosexuality isn’t defined by me having sex but more by my ATTRACTION to the opposite sex. So it is with Homosexuality.

And I am fully correct because there is nothing sinful about who you find attractive.

If you think this is bad, I can tell you some real horror stories from the “Catholic” schools here in Canada…
Code:
Even satanic worship and allowing white witches to give a leson during religion class!

And I am fully correct because there is nothing sinful about who you find attractive.
While my terminology may be poor lets quote what the Catechism says:

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

That’s why I don’t like the Catechism’s explanation. So the acts are disordered. It should go on to detail that homosexuality w/o the acts is not sinful. I can do nothing about who I find attractive despite what so many try to say of change. I cannot change who I am. There is no magic formula. To say homosexual attractions is sinful is to say I am sinning just by my existence. That is hogwash.

You can say whatever you like to us but it won’t be us that will judge you come judgment day. God never asks the impossible.

And God won’t judge me unfavorably for being attracted to my own gender. Yet alot of people here have already made that judgement. Which makes me wonder how God will judge the hypocrites who insist that any hint of homsexual attraction is also a sin. It won’t be me to judge.

And God doesn’t ask that we be heterosexual only to get into the Kingdom. He doesn’t ask that we necessarily change who we are attracted to.

You do realise that I stated “homosexuality”?

Which of course means the act rather than the person.

So I dont really understand what exactly you are arguing about.

And homosexuality can also refer to just the attraction which is also not sinful so to make a blanket statement that homosexuality is isnful is not correct. Only the behavior is. Yet there are alot worse sins than that even.

Personally, I often wonder what would happen if my own children ( don’t have any yet but hope to soon ), went to Catholic school and turned out to be gay. How would they feel at that school? I would want them to respect the 10 commandments, but at the same time I would want them and their peers to be respected and treated the same as anywhere else.
.
Ever hear of chastity?
