Not that i can comment being all the way down here in Australia but i think that’s the way the world is heading, everything is acceptable (almost everything anyway). It’s the simple result of a world moving further and further away form god.

It’s only going to get uglier.
i agree. i don’t know how things are going in australia. i do have a friend in new zealand.
but i think eventually, the churches that do not support abortion, homosexuality, same sex unions, will someday be seen as very backward and old fashioned and behind the times.

does anyone feel that the leniency shown by our new president as far as making June the month to honor gays and lesbians, etc. and other things that he has promised to this group given the green light to the episcopal church to vote and stop the moratorium on ordaining gay bishops?

i think knowing that we have a more liberal president has sent a signal to the churches that it is okay to be more liberal also.

our current president is definitely not an evangelical christian and i think the episcopal church feels free to do whatever they want.
No. This predates Obama by decades.

Australia is pretty secular, so anything that goes aginst “getting with the times” trail of thought is seen as bit old fashioned and therefore lack credibility.

The church is already seen as very old fashioned, it is criticised and attacked for it! I think the church is used to it by now, it’s been happening for decades!

But the gates of hell shall not prevail…

i wish i could see into the future 25 years and see what is ahead for Christianity and the Roman Catholic church.
i just watched a wedding video on aol news homepage that showed the wedding party dancing down the aisles of the church to a song by Chris Brown. the groom did a back flip. it was a big wedding party. the bride was the last one to dance down the aisle. no one accompanied her. there was a female pastor patiently waiting to marry them at the altar. she looked lost. it was definitely a church, but the wedding didn’t seem like it had much to do with Christianity.

The church will come under increased attack, but in a way i think it will be a good thing for the church as i think it will clean the church of “fake” catholics, those that have the strongest faith in the church will stay. Those that don’t i think you will find will leave, sad but true.

you have a good argument there. i am a new Catholic and to be honest, most of the “real” Catholics i have met are here at CAF. unfortunately, i have met many “fake” Catholics out in the real world and in my church and they don’t apologize for their beliefs.
when i say something like, but i thought we were supposed to believe this way . . .
the answer i get is “don’t worry about that” from people at church. all i can think is that i must be missing something because what is the use of saying you are Catholic, if you disagree with the teachings of the church.

Good point here, You are not missing anything you are actually getting it!

Read the catechism of the catholic church, read the bible and pray as often as you can in front of the blessed sacrament! It helped me big time!

thanks for the advice. i left the episcopal church to come to the Catholic church, but i have found a lot of Catholics who really belong in the episcopal church.

Hi 7 Sorrows,

I guess I am very lucky because at least 3/4 of our parish are Real Catholics. Like I have said before it is a very traditional. Not that being more traditional makes a person follow the Churches teachings. I don’t mean traditional like SPPX.

Sorry you have a parish where the people just feel an obligation to attend Mass and aren’t interested in following the faith.

Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

Bernadette

Do you mean the month dedicated to gays and lesbians predates Obama? As far as I’ve ever known, this is the first official calendar month recognition of homosexuals. It’s flat-out bizarre. Even apart from the obvious abnormal behavior of the LGBT community, it just seems painfully obvious that it’s weird to celebrate a person’s sexual preferences? It’s as if to say, “this month we’re celebrating all men who are attracted to other men!” What’s the point? I think they’re (the Left Wing) is trying to characterize gays and lesbians as African Americans, a formerly persecuted minority. Pretty cheesy logic. I find it odd that we are dedicating this time toward a person’s sex preferences at all? We don’t have a month dedicated to older men who are attracted to younger ladies and black men who are attracted to white women, etc. etc. so why dedicate something to gays and lesbians since, in the end, it’s just their sexual preference that gives them the title “gay?” 🤷🤷

This is satan at work gurneyhalleck1!

He’s setting a trap for our children and furture generations by encouraging homosexuality as normal and not sin. Pretty soon, the church’s message i feel will be blotted out completely!

No, I meant that the issue of sexually related problems in TEC predates Obama by many years. Nothing Obama did gave a green light to TEC to do what they did, and have long been doing.

Ok, gotcha…And dittos to that sentiment. TEC doesn’t need Obama’s approval or inspiration to come up with the twisted weirdness they’ve adopted in Anaheim. I’m still trying to imagine shaking hands with Rector James coming out the door of church and he’s wearing pumps…that Anaheim convention sure is ‘progressive’ LOL

You’ll get no argument from me on that front. Satan’s greatest tool is making us think he isn’t there and then working through the “benevolent” leftist “It Takes a Village” progressive warm-fuzzies that the Left portray when the behind-the-curtain reality is abortion, right-to-die, cloning, destroying embryos, unethical science, and an erosion of Judeo-Christian policies that made this country what it is today. It’s insidious and always under the guise of what’s best for us. A lot of these radical pro-gay folks are generation Xers in my age group who never got to be abolitionists in the Civil War or hippies in the
60’s or sufferagettes in the early 20th century or marchers with Martin Luther King. They think the gay agenda is like slavery and somehow the gay community is akin to a race being discriminated against. Hogwash. Under the guise of equal rights and dignity and love it’s really an erosion of faith.

Yes, I was also very disturbed and discouraged when I became Catholic, and discovered some members who were advocating all of the changes that had already occurred in TEC. My first reaction was, “If you want a religion with some of the ‘bells and whistles’ of Catholicism but none of the “trappings” of the doctrine, why not just join the Episcopal Church?”. Stop messing with Catholicism!!! If you don’t like the rules of this game, go find another one you want to play. Why change THIS one???

yes, the sexual issues within the episcopal church have been on the front line for many years, however, they did have an agreement with the Archbishop of Canterbury, that they would refrain from ordaining gay bishops. to me, it just seems since we have such a lenient president now who seems to favor the LGBT community, that they feel it is acceptable for them to go against the wishes of the Archbishop of Canterbury. if we have a month now in our calendar year which officially recognizes and honors this community,
it sort of does give a green light to churches that they are allowed to be more lenient.

The resolution (B033) that agreed to a moratorium on consecrating gay bishps arose from the 2006 General Convention. It was a given that it would not be adhered to, after the current convention. Obama and any attitude he might have had nothing whatsoever to do with Reolution D025, from the just completed convention. Episcopalians as a corporate group needed no green light to poke +Rowan *Cantaur *in the eye. They’ve been doing it for years.

you would think after awhile he would have given up on this episcopalian corporate group and sent them on their merry way.
