I’m the only working person in my family and the only source of income since my dad’s unemployment stopped coming in. I work at a restaraunt as a full-time dishwasher in a very morally depraved environment. Everyone does drugs, except for maybe two other people who get drunk instead, and they do them at work. Even the owner. I am the only one not doing any of it. They are constantly smoking marijuana and doing cocaine and having their dealers bring it to them while we are all working. More than that, they come back after hours and drink the restaraunt booze, cooki food, and do more drugs, while I’m trying to close down the place ( all without the owner’s consent, but I’ve told him before and he obviously hasn’t done anything.) I hate working here, but I want to love these people. They know I disapprove, and I know they don’t care, so there’s no tension there for the most part. It comes up in other ways: the use of the Lord’s name or His Mother’s, doing something dishonest, lying for someone, helping someeone cut corners, stealing, having to remind someone of the difference between their responsibilities and mine etc. I’m not under the delusion that I am perfect by any means, but it would be a lie to say that I don’t care about approaching my job with dignity before the Lord. My point is more of what am I morally obligated to do? Is it okay to tolerate their behaviour, such as the drug use, because of my situation, or am I morally obligated to call the police or do somehting else? It’s so sad to see this much sin, I used to be like that, and I could go back in a second if I let myself be fooled that I couldn’t. I don’t preach to them with words, unless it comes up. I try to set a good example by doing my job well and sticking to my principles and praying for them everyday before I go to work. If nothing else please pray for me and them, and my family. Thank you

Are there no there jobs?

I get a job selling condo timeshares once. I lasted less than a week. All the sales staff were planning their next drug fueled party. I felt sick being around the environment. I couldn’t handle it, so I know how you feel.

I didn’t have the same financial responsibilities as you do, so I was able to walk. But sometimes you need to find a way out.

I feel for you. To be surrounded by such sin must be incredibly trying.

However, you need the job. You are a breadwinner and you have responsibilities. Never lose sight of those.

You can’t be held responsible for these sinful actions of the ones you work with. You have reported the wrongdoing to your employer; it is up to him to take action. You’ve done all that you need to do there.

As for your co-workers’ drug use, again you’re not responsible. You’re not encouraging it, they know you don’t approve and go ahead and do it anyway. You have no moral culpability whatsoever in respect of their actions.

What I would recommend though is that you seek alternative employment with all the resources available to you. Having once found that employment, then report the establishment you’re working at now to the appropriate authorities, as it sounds like it is a very unhygienic place to be working and goodness knows what harm may become the customers of such an establishment.

For now though, your immediate welfare demands you take a pragmatic approach. Do what is necessary to survive until an alternative makes itself available. You might be able to suggest to the establishment’s owner that he runs the risk of being shut down if inspected by authorities, but don’t over-do it in case he feels the need to fire you.

I most fervently hope and pray that a way out of the situation presents itself soon.

Go report this to the police.

Obviously anyone but Barnie Fife would like to leave there. But if your the only income in
the family, then tuff it out until your hired somewhere. You love them best by not encouraging them. I will include you in my prayers.

Hide a few miraculous blessed medals around the dump. Then ask Mary to clean the place up, meaning, make the sin go away.

Just a thought wishing you the best.

Go report this to the police.
Not necessarily a good idea. For one, the “bad guys” may want to take revenge on the O.P. for reporting them. Also, if the police shut the place down, the O.P. will be out of work which he cannot afford to be right now.

O.P.: Just bide your time until you can find something better. Then get the heck out and don’t look back.

you are morally obligated to get out of this situation as soon as you can, yesterday would be better, There are worse things than being out of work, one of them being rounded up and arrested when somebody does call the police and everyone on the premises is arrested and everyone who knew about the situation but did nothing is also charged.
