That would be a first. I am skeptical but these are new days.I suspect that Rome will make some way possible for the TAC people to come across with their liturgy. I further think that Rome knows that the Catholic hierarchy, especially in Britain, have been against this.Therefore I think that Rome may make it possible for the TAC group to end up with their own epsicopal jurisdiction.
I don’t think that they will be recognized to have a unique rite, because it has always been been Roman Catholic policy that there is only one rite in the west. There is far too much invested in the idea to reverse itself.
Even the Mozarabic rite and the Ambrosian rite are not admitted to be rites in the full formal sense (instead, versions of the Latin rite of the Mother church), although I believe most church historians would argue the point.
I feel that this would be a good thing.Having been involved with this for many many years now, from both a Catholic and and formerly, an Anglican position, I really do think that we are approaching a major event.
