How might the TAC and the Anglican Use parishes be united?.

When the Church decides to accept members of TAC I hope that they will function just as the Anglican Use parishes are today. I would hope that in time if the Personal Parishes grow that someday they will have their own Bishop just as the Eastern Rite Catholics do.

It will take time to see how all this works out. The Church is slow in making decisions on such important issues. There are several new Anglican Use parishes or missions and it has been a slow process as it is up to the individual Bishop to allow this usage.

My prayers are that more and more Bishops will be open to these souls. We must trust in the Lord to open hearts.

Yours in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

I think there might be a wider application of the Anglican Use provision under the Latin Rite if there was enough demand from Anglicans who wanted to join the Catholic Church.

Would it ever be its own rite? I seriously doubt it – there really is no reason for it to be separated away from the Latin Rite.

The current story making the rounds is that the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has recommended that the TAC be reunited under the form of a personal prelature, a structure used only once before, with Opus Dei. This would be done so that the organization could come in as a group and preserve certain traditions, but it would allow it to sidestep the issue of their many married bishops, which would have to be demoted to married priests. They would then only need to find a single bishop to lead the group, operating under the direct authority of the Vatican. If they came in as their own church, like the Eastern Catholics, then each diocese would need it’s own bishop, and it could prove difficult finding enough people to serve in that capacity. This group could then serve as a haven for many other individual Anglicans that might consider reuniting with the Catholic Church.
