Just curious, are there any here who feel a calling to be a traditional priest or nun?
Oh. Thatā€™s me. šŸ˜ƒ

Iā€™m actually taking a bolder step and going through the dioceseā€¦and already asking the Bishop for an indult. šŸ˜›

But, iā€™m sure in six or so years when I finish seminary things will be different. If nothing else, the Bishop is aware of my desires and has promised to ā€œcaterā€ to them so long as I am willing to celebrate the Novus Ordo as well.

I am drawn to the FSSP with a passion, but I truely feel the people at the diocese level need me more. They are the ones unaware of our own tradtions and are in need of instruction. Iā€™ll need a lot of grace to sustain me on this battlefield. šŸ˜ƒ

I will remember you in my prayers. We do need more priests who will teach the traditions of the church. I think that the tenets of the church are lost somewhere in the new way of doing things. I am not putting down the NO, I just feel sorry for those who have not experienced the solemnity and reverence of the TLM. More yet, I get frustrated by those who know nothing of the old ways, but sermonize against them.

I am sure that you are aware that you willneed a lot of grace to sustain you on any battlefield.

There are many many many people of faith and of goodwill that need a Priest in the Novos Ordo Tradition who is not afraid to teach as you are suggesting. And offering a truly Holy and Reverent NO Mass will be appreciated by your congregation, I promise you!!!

And please do not forget, as the author of ā€œHebrewsā€ teaches, to share love. You never know what seeds you are sowing in whose heart. And you will win over many souls to the beauty of our Traditions. I would have ā€œcome homeā€ to Traditionalism a lllllong time ago if I had found a gentle yet firm hand sooner.

I think I might be being called to be a priest, but I have a lot more praying and listening to do so I can know what God wants me to do! šŸ™‚

I know one thing though: if I become a priest, I will be a traditional priest that will do his best to uphold orthodoxy!

Although the prospect of telling this to my parents scares me a bit, especially considering that my dad isnā€™t very Catholic (he divorced my mom two years ago after cheating on her)ā€¦and my mom might think that I was abandoning herā€¦šŸ˜¦

I pray for priests and nuns each day. And Altar BOYS. šŸ™‚
This thread is an excellent reminder for me to keep praying more often for the ones who are just starting to ask themsleves these questions in their heart.

Hello

I want to be a traditional priest šŸ˜ƒ

There are traditional nuns, look at the list on the Una Voce International site.
You always seem to have a new and beautiful picture on your signature Caesar.

And as for the OP, I too am discerning a vocation as a Traditional Priest.

Nick, Caesar and Ressurexit, all three of you are going to make wondeful priests. I pray for your vocations every day. God bless you all.šŸ™‚
All three of them are my close friends. They will make wonderful priests.

Me and Sola Roma go to the same FSSP Parishā€¦we are also discerning vocations with the Fraternity of St. Peter.

My family isnt too thrilled either. In fact, they are probably quite against the idea.

But have no fear, the Holy Ghost is at work in everything. If you are called to be a priest then it will be, no matter what difficulties you might come across along the way.

To all the young men who have responded to this thread, that they desire to become Holy, Traditional Catholic Priests, you have my prayers. Perhaps Iā€™ll be fortunate enough to meet some of you if you decide to enter into the Institute of Christ the King. Many candidates come to St. Louis to discern their vocation. Father Karl Lenhardt is the Vice-Provinicial (sp?) of the order here in the US. He is working on starting a pre-seminary at St. Francis de Sales.

btwā€¦are any of you fluent in French? I believe this is a requirement to enter the seminary in Italy. The young men are taught in French, if my memory serves me correctly.

God bless you allā€¦

Ah yes, French is taught in the pre-seminary formation program in St. Louis. Latin is also taught, as well as introductory studies in theology and the Liturgy.

The seminary in Italy uses French. I am familar with French, since it is a minor subject taken in the grade schools and the first year of high school here in Canada. After the first year of High School French because optional, and I, like most students, didnt bother to take it again. I regret that decision šŸ˜¦

I am planning to attend the Ordinations in St. Louis in June. I have been speaking with Monsignor Schmitz, and I hope to be able to meet the Prior General, Monsignor Wach, during my visit.

Oh very good Caesar! You have the main duck in the row, French. It has been an obstacle for some men in our parish, and they sadly couldnā€™t pick up the language as quickly as they would have liked to enter the seminary. They ended up going to the FSSP.

I hope to meet you at the ordinations. It would be my privilege.

We have a traditionalist priest but not the nun. she is very nice and kind but was not taught the rosary as a ritual in her group and she is 88. She is very nice and kind but I am beginning to understan she is bound by the vows she has taken and does not pray the rosary with us . What a loss:( this whole thing makes me sad. I pray with another old lady 80 also a nother about 65 and they have nourished me into the prayers and I am so ever gratefull. I see the problem as we do not have the rosary before adoration maybe because of all this. Our priest has encouraged us to do this rosary in the adoration room some everyday after daily mass but not so much on adoration day which is open 8 till 4p because it woould disturb others who wnt to meditate. Some of the othercc have the rosary before dialy on adoration day but many think our problem is because of our nun but now I see she is bound by her orders and I drifted away from the prayer for awhile but have come back to us three and pray. Father just winks at me and smiles when we are praying and when we meet but why doesnā€™t he join us and is he waiting for an invite? And I am even not sure about asking because it may be against his order etc. Most we ask to come in to say the rosary donā€™t but some do. Prayers are being answered and the three of us have many blessings. But I am confused as to how this can happen and am starting to realize the devotion and vows that nuns and priests go through with each order they take . Ituly am gratefull for these ladies enriching my life with prayer and the nuns and priests. I appreciate the Cure site I will print the prayers and take them to the chapel much thanks and also god bless to those who are going into the vocations. dessert

i believe there is. Do any of you know the prayer for priests?

i think it goes something like this,

oh Lord grant us holy priests, oh Lord grant us many holy priests.

something to that effect.

also, what is a discalced nun?

If we have any traditional nuns, what order do you belong to?
I just finished my application to a Discalced Carmelite convent (a cloistered one) not too far from where I live. I hope I get accepted! šŸ™‚

In Canada? I didnt know there were any Carmelites in Canada besides the convent in Niagra Falls

Is it traditional?

I feel like I may be called towards the Poor Clare nunsā€¦but Iā€™m not entirely sure where God is calling me too yet.

Code:
There is another convent of Carmetlites in St Catharinesā€¦and they are very traditional in full habit to boot! I think they are some kind of nursesā€¦

The one in Niagara Falls is far from being traditionalā€¦as of this year, they are going to implement New Age courses!!!   Although their monastery is very beautiful!
