Traditional priests and nuns

A traditionalist priest is one that celebrates the Mass according to the rubrics of the 1962 Missal. Those who are in full communion are usually assosciated with societies such as the FSSP and ICRSS. If such a priest wishes, he can celebrate the New Order Mass, but can not be forced to.

Remember, we are all unworthy sinners. You may not think you could be a priest, but if God is calling you, He will find a way. Don’t let your parents force you into things either way.

Grace can change anyone. Mother Angelica said “We are all called to be great saints - don’t miss the opportunity.” You can be a great saint, if that’s what you want. Pray. Ask for Our Lady’s assistance. Go to confession once a week, receive communion as often as you can (but only when in a state of grace), and you will soon find yourself change.

Little brother in Christ, be careful. There is such a thing as being proud to be a sinner and so it becomes boasting instead of humility.

When you say you are too bad to save, you are calling Jesus a liar–you are saying his death on the cross has no power to save sinners.

We are all sinners. You are no exception. Accept the fact and get on with living your life as God wills for you.

What if God already chose somone…and they are proud of God’s choice and wisdom.

God allows people, perhaps like yourself to struggle with their faith, because at the end of it, they will come out purified, with a far stronger faith than if everything had been hunky-dory.

If you have a vocation…never apologize for bugging people.

Bug everyone you can…if you get a chance…bug the Pope.

Somone who sincerely asks himself “Should I be a Priest” must never stop asking that until he finds an answer.

Boy, our biggest sinners became our greatest saints! Just a few examples…St Augusutine, St Francis, Father John Corapi… I draw courage from such…tje passion they put into sinning becomes the passion in loving Him! Hiw wonderful! There is always hope…:bounce:

Since this thread has resurfaced, I’d like to add my name to it this time.
I feel called to either a order of traditional priests such as the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest or the FSSP, or an order of contemplative monks; particularly the Trappists or Carthusians.

The website doesn’t give that much information (institute-christ-king.org/AdorersRoyalHeart.htm):

• non-cloistered, contemplative
• co-patrons Thomas Aquin, France de Salesand Benedict (and of course, mainly the Virgin herself)
• habits of daily life seem to be adapted from the rule of benedict

This is a tradional Catholic site so you may get more info if you go to home and then to the Catholic living section to the vocations forum you will see lots of threads. Your site did not come up on my puter. Wish I could give you info sorry.

Catholic Nick, just so you know that my husband and I make and give away Chaplets for Priests and we pray for priests everyday. When you are ordained and don’t know where you might want to serve, Cajun Country is a nice place. We are good to our Priests, we have good food, we can take you fishing, boil you some crabs, shrimp, or crawfish, I can send brochures if you like. God Bless and know you will be prayed for.

He doesn’t want you!? He died on the Cross for your sake! Of course he wants you!

Do not lose hope if you fail…I find myself often failing and it is discouraging but we can’t let the Devil make us despair, because that’s what he wants. He wants us to think that we can’t change and that we can’t be saved. He wants us to think that we’re worthless and evil and that God doesn’t love us. He wants us to think we can’t be forgiven. He wants us to think that if our struggles and sinfulness don’t disappear overnight that we are beyond hope. But all of these things are untrue! They are just lies. Don’t give in to the Devil! Trust in the God who loves you so much that He died for you.

I think I may have a calling to the priesthood, but I’m not sure, and I’m still quite young, so I have plenty of time to figure it out.

I’m thinking of attending Institute of Christ the King, but it’s far away from my native Canada, and although my French is quite good, I don’t think I’d want to study philosophy in it.

Perhaps a better option for me would be Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska, run by the FSSP. Anyone know much about it–or better yet–anyone here attending it or applying to it?

Mat, I don’t nowif you’ll be able to skip philosophy if studying for the priesthood - at least in Europe it is mandatory anyway (about two years). But: Good luck!

And Bob… “traditional” ist, due to the lack of a better (and not to long!) term just the word used for those priests who celebrate mainly the tridentine mass in latin or belong to an order/institute doing so. This is not intended to mark other priests down - maybe you’re confusing traditional and orthodox (as: faithful to the magisterium, not the orthodox church)?
