Traditionalist Forums that are Faithful to Magisterium?

This is not merely “questionable” material.

It is direct contradiction to what the Church Teaches and what the Holy Father has said.

It is plainly divisive and should in no way be encouraged with membership at the forum paid or not.

It just makes me sick to read it and sick to see the rationalizations that support this sort of anit-Catholic hatred.

Because, regardless of their claims to being Catholic, any attack on any form of the Mass is an attack against the Faith.
In all honesty I’d never read that section before. I mostly read the sections on the traditional liturgical year, which are not controversial. Parts of the section quoted here made me a little sick, too.

Still, if I quit all the forums where I find something objectionable I’d have to quit them all. I try always to have my guard up on the Internet.

The difference is in the “who” that is doing the posting, wouldn’t you think? This Introduction is a statement of faith by the Owner, not the participants. Clearly, the website is built on sand and infidelity to Church teaching.

Not a single owner or moderator here at CAF or other worthy Catholic forums are scandalous to their members with false teachings such as this, or with the scandalous witness of their private life. I think it deserves a huge caveat before one decides to join there.

Maybe some of you who are not yet familiar with FE might appreciate knowing that it is a haven for banned CAF members. The moderator allows them to publicly trash their experience here at CAF and detract the reputation of the moderator who banned them. Does anyone believe for one moment that the banned members have suddenly become charitable in their postings? Is this what you want to be subject to?

I’ve read the FE forums as a guest, and some of the stuff outside the forum on the site. Many of their views I disagree with as some of them do not seem to show respect to the Ordinary Form & those who attend it for any reason - mainly in the forums. I love the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, but I show respect to family and friends who do not go to it and they respect my reasons for attending the Extraordinary Form of the Mass more often.

Fair point, but this is news to me. The owner’s posts on the forum are very moderate and charitable, and that’s all I’ve known. I know little about the owner’s personal life and it’s not relevent to my experience there since I don’t take her for a teacher or superior or anything.

No comment. Talking about CAF moderators is off limits, as I have repeated learned the hard way.

Maybe I misread his post, but I don’t think he was trashing any CAF moderators.

My two cents - run, don’t walk, as far away from FE as you can get.

And don’t look back!

🙂

I JUST read the section on Fish Eaters, and I was unaware of what the website was talking about when they were referring to Novus Ordo. If I had not read that spiel on a website that red-flagged their unorthodox views, I could totally see myself being pulled in by them. “Ah yeah, that freakin’ Novus Ordo Mass sucks! Why does it exist? Get rid of it!” I could see myself saying, not knowing this was COMPLETELY AGAINST the Magisterium. Luckily, I realized it was HERETICAL GARBAGE being spewed.

Out of my own experience just now, I would recommend staying far away from this site. As others have said, whether you’re ‘traditionalist’ or ‘liberal’ or whatever, you’re only fully Catholic if you are in communion with the Magisterium. Otherwise, it’s all rebellion.

I think he meant trashing CAF moderators is off limits at Fisheaters. But that’s not true. Simply enter a search on google using any one of these terms, followed by site:fisheaters.com, and you’ll find pages of posts where the moderator allows trashing of both CAF, its moderators, and its members. It looks like this:

“Banned From CAF” site:fisheaters.com
“Thomas Casey”
“Hello I was just banned at CAF”
“Banned again at CAF”
“Eric Hilbert”
“Banned Finally”

Be imaginative, there are a lot of posts. How sickening that the owner has no conscience in this regard.

Well said, Smiter. I’m glad you saw the light. Amen.

I’m not a traditionalist, but I think it would be more prudent if we just “mark” the problematic pages to be avoided, and not trash the whole site. Despite those problematic pages, I think FE has a lot of good in it, most especially the basic catechetical materials. Just avoid the polemics.

Furthermore, if we love being in CAF, then we should not reciprocate the “rant-against-CAF” threads in FE here. I don’t think it’s a good idea to pit both websites against each other. 🤷

How would an inquirer or a new Catholic, know which pages to :mark"?

That is why it is a danger to the faith.

Indeed. But I was talking about what’s going on in this thread. Already there are posts that seem to trash FE. For those of us who have been to FE, we can inform an inquiring or new Catholic what pages or opinions to avoid. I just can’t see the point trashing the whole site. Like a gold nugget, maybe we can wash away first the dirt to see its real value. We don’t want to be rejected as a person because we have imperfections, don’t we? 🙂

How will you know when someone innocently visits their web site and comes away with wrong and harmful ideas about the Church? Should there be a link at their site directing all visitors to ask you about anything they might have questions about? The CatholicCulture.org website has the best solution to these subterfuge “catholic” sites: flag them as dangerous to the faith, list the reasons pro and con, give examples, and let people make their own decisions.

People are not being rejected. Heretical ideas and the vehicles they ride in are.

Again, I’m talking about what’s going on in this thread: the total trashing of FE. IN THIS THREAD we just need to point out the erroneous information, not bash the whole site. This thread has apparently become “bash-the-FE-website.” See what CatholicCulture.org did: they listed the pros and cons, not trash the website wholesale.

This will be my last post regarding the matter.

You need to have very thick skin for Fish Eaters because tension runs high sometimes and debates can get quite nasty. You can’t promote sedevacantism and question the Pope as the true successor of Saint Peter. There is a place on that forum called “The Cornfield” that is unmoderated and filled with controversial topics that might not be for everyone.

I think he meant trashing CAF moderators is off limits at Fisheaters. But that’s not true.
I meant that discussing CAF moderators is off limits here on CAF, hence I won’t reply to that publicly. PM me if you want to know what I meant.

You’re the pot calling the kettle black, brother.

Dear Rich C,

This morning’s news reported the sentencing of 7 officials who failed to warn about the Italian earthquake. If you want to maintain that keeping quiet in the face of danger and failing to warn the sheep about FE is a good thing, then I have no qualms in conscience about being called a “pot.” 😉

Ok, it seems that Lomar read your post correctly. I thought you were speaking about a FE moderator. You must have had tongue-in-cheek with regard to CAF moderation and refrained from expressing it. No pm’s – I don’t want to listen to anything that can’t be said publicly.

[If you are Richard C at Fisheaters, I have read your modus operandi.]

After lurking on fisheaters for several months, I am biting the bullet and have just joined as a member. Some of the members are really hardcore and combative, but some are very reasonable and do their best to reign in the wackos. It is pretty entertaining to read through some of those threads! Just (as others have said…) be strong in your faith and be ready to recognize the errors when they pop up. And for goodness sakes don’t say you prefer holding hands during the Our Father.

I don’t care what you say on the Internet, but if you insist on making personal attacks on the owner of Fish Eaters instead of sticking to doctrinal objections I’m going to call you a hypocrite.

I’m not talking about gossip and character assasinations, at least. Its just that not everything that’s true is allowed to be discussed on CAF. It’s a business and it has the right to restrict its forums as it sees fit.
If you are Richard C at Fisheaters, I have read your modus operandi.
I try to use the same username everywhere since I have nothing to hide (“Richard C” was already in use here). I have had legitmate disagreements with the way CAF is run and have openly discussed that elsewhere on the Internet but I try not to discuss it here as it is not allowed. I will defend the right of the members of FE to say what they want about CAF if they say it in charity.

If I have sometimes lapsed in charity I beg pardon for that, I’m a sinner and I’m not offended at being called out as such.
