Then I would have chosen a different username. 😉

I think it would be advantageous for you to continue posting. Despite a few tongue-in-cheek posts, our Protestants on this forum enrich the conversation.
The Chatt (double T) stands for Chattanooga. Thank you for your encouragement. I may reconsider as I read other posts in the future.🙂

Tennessee’s a beautiful state. We visited Nashville almost 10 years ago.

I think it’s illegal or at worst inappropriate to ask such a question. If they are non-denominational, then why ask?
They want to make sure you are a follower of Christ. Regardless, I agree it is an inappropriate question to ask for a play.

Not just inappropriate, but largely futile in any circumstance, given what so many self professed followers of Christ have, sadly, done throughout history and indeed, are still doing!

Grandma was right: never judge a book (or the character of a man) by its “cover”!

What do you mean by that?!

That’s for sure.

What do you mean by that?!
Where shall we start? With a whole nation of ‘Christians’ who largely stand idly by through an unthinkable holocaust perpetrated before their very eyes? Or ‘Christians’ who want to enact a Health Care Reform Bill that promotes abortions and euthanasia? Or ‘Bishops’ who conduct ‘gay marriages’ in their ‘churches’? Or ‘Pastors’ whose entire ‘ministry’ appears to consist of abusing and attacking fellow Christians and God’s one true Church? Hoax (scripture quoting!) ‘miracle’ peddlers, preying on the seriously ill and vulnerable? Regular churchgoers whose lives are anything but poor in spirit? All avowed ‘followers of Christ’.

Not by their claims (on an application form or otherwise), but by their fruits, shall ye know them!

Anyway, this is getting off topic, so I’ll stop before I get in trouble! 😦

I believe in God. He’s God." My son at the age of 6 was asking to go to Daily Mass and would ask to stay longer to say extra prayers because God had asked him to. He has such a desire for God. He is trying to figure out if God is calling him to be a priest, and he is 11 years old. God Bless!
What a wonderful testimony of your son… When I was reading what you had written
I could not help but to think back to a book I read, not too long ago, of Padre Pio
the famous Italian Monk with the stigmata and who did other Saintly things.

Padre Pio’s father gave the testimony some years before he died and he said that
Padre Pio acted just in the same way as you son has/is.

Padre Pio would pray for hours when he was four and five years old… Often as the
family would be walking to church the little Padre Pio would stop in front of a particular
house and ask his family if he could stay there and pray in front of that house as there
was a great need for prayer there. The family would go leaving Padre Pio kneeling
there and praying and when they would get back some two hours later he would still
be there praying. Seems there was always some kind if sickness in that house and
the boy knew it.

Certainly God works through the Holy Spirit through people of all ages… and
it always God’s work not ours… So there is never any age or way for all people
to hear God’s call for them… I believe it is as Jesus said when he told the Apostles
“I chose you you did choose pick me”. He calls and we respond and that call can
come at any time of our life. You son may very well be responding to the Call of
God for what God wants from him at his current age… and God will finish it out for him
when the time comes.

That right there sounds like the date they are looking for.

I am really wary of this too. Just the very fact that the group is identified as Protestant (there’s no such thing as non-denom:rolleyes:) means that they have a mission something along the lines of what Protestants do. I.e against the Catholic Church.

Also, just the fact that you are coming here to get answers for their questions shows that if your son makes it, there will be A LOT problems in the future. He’ll be told the Pope is the antichrist, that Catholics aren’t christians, that he is a cannibal, etc. Seriously, if you guys wouldn’t go to a Protestant “service” then how can you justify participating in a Protestan proselytizing show?
You are right that “non-denominational” nearly always means Protestant, usually evangelical or fundamentalist.

But otherwise - these are not fair statements about Protestants. Sure, some say things like antichrist, cannibal, etc. But not most. Many Protestants don’t ever even talk about Catholics, or only talk about points of doctrine (albeit often misunderstood) and not about wacky conspiracy theories.

That said, it is always important to be careful. If the troupe does much of anything other than perform, there may still be subtle errors your son may be learning as part of the troupe.

Why would your son want to lead other people into error? Why does he want to be a part of this “performing arts” troupe, whose purpose, I would imagine, is to spread their particular version of Christianity?

This is just truly a bad idea. Your son should find a Catholic group to become part of.

There is no “translation.” What these people mean by that question is not compatible with Church teaching. And the fact that you don’t know that is problematic. This is a false teaching on the part of these evangelicals.

And I can’t believe people on this thread are actually suggesting Confirmation as the date that someone “chooses” to follow Christ. I am just saddened by all the Catholic trying to bend their faith into an evangelical model. Um, hello, they are heretical teachings.

How old is your son? What will exposure to these decidedly non Catholic teachings do to his own faith?

And you are trying to HELP him fill out this application and encouraging him to become actively involved in evangelizing people into heretical beliefs? What’s that about?
WOW! WOW! WOW! Someone on this thread, at last, who is not afraid ot telling it like it is! Someone who has finally said what has all along required to be said!

Some of my previous comments on this thread have ‘disappeared’ (I suspect they’ve probably been scrubbed by some well meaning ‘politically correct’ moderator) because what I had to say were leading up to just these points.

The other day, during Eucharistic adoration, I “heard” the line: “The whole of rebellious Protestantism is a plague on the Body of Christ. It will be excised”. At the end of the day, only the Truth will prevail. The absolute truth in all things will rule the Kingdom of God. No more meaningless, silly, officious, impossible-to-answer questions in application forms for kids wanting to join a mere dance group. The King of Kings will turn every faithful child’s tears into eternal dancing. For His glory, and not the questionable agenda of some pretend “church” out there.

There. Now I’ve said it. Hopefully you’ll get to read this before some overly concerned moderator of this Catholic forum deletes this comment too!

Always amazes me that newbies come to this forum without obviously reading the RULES of the forum. I would kindly suggest you do, especially that part about ‘charity’ before you post again.

Read most of the way through but thought I would add my 2 cents. My answer would be Date and time this morning when I got up “I chose Jesus as my Lord and Savior every morning again when I get up!!”

I have been reading through thease posts and I can understand the question that was asked this young man about being saved. Thease people that are asking your son this question are not meaning any harm but are only trying to be sure that your son really knows the Lord and is not just following some religous practice by attending church and not ever really comming to know the Lord.
Code:
Now dont take it personal and get all mad at what I am saying but try to listen to what I have to say. In the protestant church or shall I say in alot of them. It is believed that a person can attend church, and live a good life, can be baptised, can be confirmed, confess his sins to a pastor,be a member of a church, help the poor, can even be very devout, and love God, study the scriptures, and know all about God, even be a preacher or a priest and still go to hell !!! In the eyes of the protestant this includes catholics and those in the protestant church.

Isn't that shocking!!!
The question are you saved dosent mean I prayed the sinners prayer or walked down the isle of a church and they prayed with me. It isnt because I had some emotional feeling during the church service, It is defenitely not something that you grow into.

I guess the best way to explain what salvation or being born again is, is to describe what happens when a person recieves Jesus Christ as their savior. I am not talking about the partaking of the body and blood of Jesus in the euchrist as catholics do at mass.
Code:
When a person recieves Jesus as their Lord and savior there are things that happen that only the Lord can do. Before this happens there is usally a time of seeing oneself. A person realizes that they are going to hell because they have sinned. Many times they may have to come to the end of themselves in this process. This is where the Holy Spirit is drawing them. They realise that they have broken God's laws and are helpless to save themselves.
A person begins seeking after God and when they call on Him He hears and saves them. A person may call on God for some time before this happens. This depends on God’s timeing and the persons heart which the Holy Spirit is preparing to recieve Christ Jesus.

What happens when a person is saved. They become a new creature in Christ ,old things are passed away and all things become as new. God places His nature in the person that is saved or born again. His Spirit comes to dwell with them. They will not want to live as they once did. They will have a new love for God and will call Him Father. They will enjoy the things that God has instead of the pleasures of sin. A persons desires change, they find themselves set free from their sins. They experiance a peace that cannot be understood. They realise that all is alright between God and them and He has taken their sins away. It is a change that takes place that only God can do. Most can point to the day that this happened to them. This is not an end but only the beginning. This is where it starts. It dosent mean a person will never sin but sin has no more dominion over him. It also means this is where the true relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son begins.

I could describe the time when God did this for me if it would help you understand what is ment by being saved or born again. I will never forget it and I have never been the same since.

:thumbsup:Greetings my dear sister in Christ. I to have been raised the same and feel like you do. You really remember the day of Baptism and giving your heart to the Lord. To die in Christ and be risen with him that is Baptism and you have a clean feeling to know you excepted the lord as your personal Lord and Savour, that you and He shall walk together and you will never walk alone. God Bless raggetyann:)
