Again, we must avoid the error of self-interpretation of another’s words. This is the colossal failure of the man-made doctrine of sola scriptura. It places God’s truth at the mercy of individual consciences, completely ignoring whether or not those consciences are well-formed. Richard Butler, the self-proclaimed leader of the Aryan Nations, habitually quoted scripture in support of hatred and racism. But, did he possess a well-formed conscience, or the authority to self-interpret scripture? Of course, not!
Remember that the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth. So, let the Church interpret and you cannot be lead astray by the spirits of this world.
