I know what Catholics believe. I was Catholic for over 30 years. I deny the teaching of transubstantiation. Look up the stats, more than 50% of Catholics deny it.
And the Eucharist is a sharing in Christ’s cup, not anyone else’s.Per Scott Hahn’s “fourth cup” theory, it’s possible that Jesus Himself completed His Passover seder on the Cross, but even if that is the case, the eating part was long over and all Jesus did was to drink of the final cup.
I do.Speak for yourself.
Because my salvation is secure in Christ. I am kept by the power of God, not by keeping any commandments. If you can barely keep the two commandments Jesus gave us how can you consider yourself to be eternally secure of your salvation, you know, OSAS. Or, are you without personal sin? Or were you immaculately conceived?
Stats are stats, so what!I know what Catholics believe. I was Catholic for over 30 years. I deny the teaching of transubstantiation. Look up the stats, more than 50% of Catholics deny it.
By ourselves, we cannot keep any of God’s commandments, neither the Ten Commandments nor the 613 mitzvot nor Jesus’ two laws of love.Jesus gave us two commandments. And we can barely keep those.
The 10 are part of the Law. The law was never meant to be a means of salvation. By the law comes the knowledge of sin.
Absolutley, I agree.Which is why Christ died that our sins could be forgiven.
Yet He knows we cannot sin no more. We sin because we are sinners. But He wasted no breath in telling us to repent AND SIN NO MORE, which is the part that faith-aloners always leave out.
Reconcile that with nothing unclean shall enter heaven.I do.
Because my salvation is secure in Christ. I am kept by the power of God, not by keeping any commandments.
Does this mean we are free to sin? Certainly not! as Paul says. We strive to be like Him in all ways. Yet we still fall at times. We do not lose our salvation because we happen to sin. We sin because we are sinners that struggle in the flesh.
I hate to break it to you but God doesn’t care about polls. He cares about us. And He knows better than we do.I know what Catholics believe. I was Catholic for over 30 years. I deny the teaching of transubstantiation. Look up the stats, more than 50% of Catholics deny it.
Yes, and when you do stumble at one point, you are guilty of all, just as James says.By ourselves, we cannot keep any of God’s commandments, neither the Ten Commandments nor the 613 mitzvot nor Jesus’ two laws of love.
By His grace, we can do anything, though we will often refuse to take advantage of that grace and stumble still.
Those that are saved are not unclean. WE are imputed the righteousness of Christ.Reconcile that with nothing unclean shall enter heaven.
And that is why Jesus told his Apostles: “Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven. Whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.”Absolutley, I agree.
Yet He knows we cannot sin no more. We sin because we are sinners.
If we say we have no sin, we decieve ourselves and the truth is not in us.
But when we do sin, we have an Advocate, and that is Jesus Christ.
Only God forgives sin. Your priest is not doing the forgiving. Ask him next time you go to confession. Ask him WHO is forgiving your sins. And that is why Jesus told his Apostles: “Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven. Whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.”
Catholic priests can forgive sins in Christ’s name.
How long has it been since you have been to confession?
Ah, the heretical doctrine of Luther. Imputed righteousness. Cheap salvation. Those that are saved are not unclean. WE are imputed the righteousness of Christ.
Nowhere in Scripture is a born again believer ever referred to as unclean.
That’s before Justification–or are you denying that the blood of Christ washes us?Yet He knows we cannot sin no more. We sin because we are sinners.
If we say we have no sin, we decieve ourselves and the truth is not in us.
[BIBLEDRB]Matthew 7:15-23[/BIBLEDRB]But when we do sin, we have an Advocate, and that is Jesus Christ.
Why bother confessing at all since you have proclaimed yourself saved?Only God forgives sin. Your priest is not doing the forgiving. Ask him next time you go to confession. Ask him WHO is forgiving your sins.
I confess daily to my Lord and Savior, my Advocate, my Mediator.
Wow, imputed righteousness is heretical? I guess Scripture is heretical?Ah, the heretical doctrine of Luther. Imputed righteousness. Cheap salvation.
You have failed to read post # 71 completely. Read it again.Only God forgives sin. Your priest is not doing the forgiving. Ask him next time you go to confession. Ask him WHO is forgiving your sins.
I confess daily to my Lord and Savior, my Advocate, my Mediator.
Because I am a sinner and we are to confess our sins. Do you think the unsaved would confess their sins? No, the saved do. Is this really foreign to you?Why bother confessing at all since you have proclaimed yourself saved?
