Is a person with transvestic fetishes required to live a chaste life?
Well technically we are all “required to live a chaste life.”

Are you asking if they are morally able to act on their fetish?

The answer is generally no.

Maybe, maybe, if he were able to somehow incorporate it into foreplay with his consenting wife (when he has one), it might be morally permissible. I’m not sure… but right now I can’t really think of a reason why it wouldn’t be permissible in that scenario.

What is God anyway? I need a miracle, not because I dont believe and want but because I really believe that God can heal everything, and everything is possible. So for God it should be easy.
My friend, God doesn’t always answer our prayers exactly when we want him to, and sometimes our prayers are answered in unsuspecting ways. I think you’re in the right place right now though… Maybe this is one way God is helping you. 😉

I agree.

FWIW, others disagree. A friend of mine is in a medical-related field and was discussing the cause of certain fetishes. He was taught that it has to do with the proximity of part of the brain that controls sexuality to various other functions. He specifically mentioned that foot fetishes are due to this.
Correct.

I am very close to someone who has a secret fetish. He has told me that he doesn’t know why it’s there and that he wishes he could get rid of it.

Take it to the bank I know these things I can’t tell you the background except to say it isn’t from my own experience with homosexuality but others in my life. Also I don 't know one homosexual who was not abused as a child.
I would really like to know how many gay people you’ve met, and why they spill their guts to you. Seriously, child abuse is an extremely traumatic experience, and people don’t just go running around telling people they were abused as children. I know several people that have been abused as children, and every single one is either very close to me or my wife…and, of course, none are gay.

I’ve meet a lot of people due to the nature of my job. That includes a lot of gays. I’ve easy met several hundred, and probably more. Naturally, I don’t discuss whether they were abused as children. IMHO, most, if not all, are simply wired differently; they’re just born that way. Many have very different mannerisms and characteristics than what we consider “normal.” And it’s not just the sexual attraction part either. It’s often wrapped up with other characteristics, such as creativity.

We all have particular things that we like in other people. Some people like blonde hair, other like red hair, some women like scrawny guys, others like big muscular guys, some guys like heavy women, some people are attracted to others of a different race, etc. I almost wonder if a fetish is simply an atypical variant of a normal desire/attraction, or just some neurological connection to an area of the brain that is just off of a “normal” area. But people just don’t come up with the stuff out of the blue.

Agreed.

This person told me he is attracted to diapers. Not diapers by themselves of course, but he is aroused by wearing them and by the thought of a woman wearing them. He told me the first memory he ever had of this fascination towards diapers was when he was 5 or 6 years old and his parent’s friend brought over their son who was the same age but still wore a diaper. He said he remembers just being fascinated and very interested by the fact that this kid still wore diapers. It wasn’t anything sexual back then, just a weird fascination. Anyway, it didn’t resurface again until he was in junior high and that’s when it became a more sexual thing.

As far as I know, he was never abused as a child or had anything traumatic or out of the ordinary happen in his early life. Though I suppose there is a chance that he could just be keeping that information private.

With ‘abuse’ or ‘trauma’ I think its important to consider that there could always have been instances in our early childhood where a particular situation may have taken place that the child would have completely forgotten about. It’s also possible that the situation may have gone unnoticed by anyone.

When hormonal changes take place during puberty, its possible that an old memory stored in the brain from long ago could resurface once again, especially if the brain ‘links’ that memory as something ‘similar’ to a sexual experience even if it wasn’t actually sexual at all. Perhaps for example, a young child views an old painting of a woman with long legs and high heel boots and considers it strange… That memory gets stored in the strange section of the brain right next to the arousal department that hasn’t quite developed yet. Ten years later, that same child hasn’t learned anything about the birds and the bees and next thing he knows his hormones go into overdrive… The first thing that pops in his mind was that suppressed memory from 10 years ago. Now he’s attracted specifically to women who wear high heel boots and thinks that he just wondered about it one day and went with it.

With transvestite fetishes, its likely that something similar to that must have taken place. Maybe others were involved or maybe not. In any case, unnatural sexual attractions might be caused by an unawareness or ignorance of the natural sex act between a male and a female during ages of heightened hormonal activity, therefore its the imagination of a child thats left filling that void -stamping its image into the mind permanently.

…well, that’s all I’ve got to say about that… To the OP, I don’t think you should be so hard on yourself, since life decisions arent usually left to young kids, which is probably what you were when you acquired your dilemma -IOW, You were wronged through circumstances beyond your control… You’ll just have to keep yourself in check, and keep asking The Lord to help you. Who knows, maybe in the end it will become one of the main factors in initiating an unbreakable personal relationship with God, becoming an actual link to salvation… God works in mysterious ways.

I have what scientist call transvetic fetishism, and to your information I’m straight. When people dress and act like sluts an intense opiate-like effect is triggered in their brains.

But, my desire to quit transvetic fetishism is even greater, and be in a healthy relationship. It’s an constant battle going on in my head, i cant rid myself of it. It’s a battle between the frontal lobe and hypothalamus. When I see movies in Jesus heals blind, and crippled people, I cry out to Jesus, and God: “Please God, make me a man who loves making love to woman instead of acts of transvetic fetishism”.

I quit my gorgous girlfriend. I can’t make love a girlfriend, because i don’t love my own self.

Wicked people say that i am “born this way”, there is no cure. Therapist are scammers, they only want to see money. Other people who have this condition say you can quit but you will relapse in this behavior. I wish there was a cure for this.

Anger, and hate is all i feel. Death is my best friend, because I rather be dead then to live in hell.
As a catholic you shouldnt be having sex outside of marriage,

And there go months without doing it, but then I just cant hold it anymore. Then I behave like a slut for a couple days. Well atleast I know how sluts are created, which is because of lack of attention.

This topic was actually my confession. So now when i die, i’m at peace because Jesus paid for our sins.

I think I know how it developed. The first time I had a sexual attraction was at an age of 5 or something like that. I was in a shop. I saw a big poster of a slender blond woman. I fell in love but I didn’t know what I am supposed to do. I thought “I love the strange feeling, I want to be like her”. So I concider myself partly transgendered or androgyn.

Confession is only valid when made to a priest and the penitent is correctly absolved.

Perhaps this is something that could help you? Go to confession. Talk to the priest. Explain your situation.

For what it’s worth, if you simply enjoy dressing up in private and otherwise nothing else happens, then that’s no so different from people who dress up to play games or re-enact historical situations. It’s just ‘play acting’, albeit it seems that your play acting could be a near occasion of sin.

If it’s simply the sensation of being in clothing not usually meant to be worn by men - perhaps because women’s fabrics tend to be silky and feel different - then consider diverting your activities by obtaining clothing for men that is made out of these fabrics. Silk undershirts, that sort of thing. Did you know that most mediaeval knights wore silk undergarments because, as lightweight and thin as it is, when struck with a blade, the silk goes in with the blade rather than ripping? As a result it kept wounds cleaner… So silk is not an un-manly fabric - if anything, it’s about as manly as you can get!

Anyway, NONE of what you have described is any reason for you to end your life.

I don’t know where you are, but I STRONGLY suggest that you seek crisis counselling if this is where your thoughts are leading to.

Funny thing is, I actually know somebody I can ask about all this (a doctor at a company dealing with issues pertaining to gays, lesbians, transgendered, and bisexual people). Problem is, she’s an ex-girlfriend. I could just see the conversation with my wife:

Me: “Yes, honey, I need to contact my ex-girlfriend because she’s an expert in knowing if transexualism is caused by child abuse.”

Wife: …throws frying pan…

Seeking help from a professional psychologist is to me a waste of money. All they can do is give expensive treatment like psychotherapy, medication (who knows what the side effects are) or cognitive behavioral therapy.

In the end, the prognosis of transvestic fetishism is generally supposed to be pessimistic and have a high rate of recurrence.

So you’re not going to bother trying to fix that which is upsetting you?

What is it you want?

He came here for some support.

It’s not that he doesn’t want to try to “fix it.”

It’s that he doesn’t believe therapy is going to take away a fetish. And I agree with that 100%. I don’t think it’s possible to do away with a fetish.

Thanks Debora!

I think it is possible, but we human beings just don’t know it yet. If I only knew how, I would do it and tell you.

Pope, John Paul II described in his Centesimus Annus that it is a human right to: “freely establish a family, to have and to rear children through the responsible exercise of one’s sexuality.”

What I am going to do is to medidate about my early childhood experiences and try to understand. Jesus said everything is possible. So in this case it is possible to rewire brains, and make good use of it.

👍 good post!

If I were you, i would forget about the psychologists and celebrate your victories rather than focusing on condemning your wrongs… Surround yourself with friends and family as much as possible and spend time helping others -which will help take your mind off of it.

…also, I thought about this and believe that the devil has something to do with this! If the devil had to choose who to torment, he would surely choose someone who is ‘good’ rather than someone who already has a long list of other sinful habits… If this is your only fault then you were probably targeted by the devil. I think it is something that you can cure in time though. Although it may take a while.:o

…they say that one sin leads to another, and that demons like to invite other demons… It could be that when you sort of ‘worshipped’ a false idol (poster) when you were young, that the devil took advantage of that opportunity. One sin led to another. What worries me most is the part about one demon inviting other demons…
