Trayvon Martin Shooter Told Cops Teenager Went For His Gun

George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch crime captain who shot dead 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, originally told police in a written statement that Martin knocked him down with a punch to the nose, repeatedly slammed his head on the ground and tried to take his gun, a police source told ABC News.

Zimmerman had claimed he had called police about Martin, whom he found suspicious, then went back to his car when Martin attacked him, punching him.

The new information is the most complete version yet of what Zimmerman claims happened on the night of Feb. 26 when he shot and killed the teenager.

In addition, an eyewitness, 13-year-old Austin Brown, told police he saw a man fitting Zimmerman’s description lying on the grass moaning and crying for help just seconds before he heard the gunshot that killed Martin.

The initial police report noted that Zimmerman was bleeding from the back of the head and nose, and after medical attention it was decided that he was in good enough condition to travel in a police cruiser to the Sanford, Fla., police station for questioning. He was not arrested.
Amen, so this 9mm he carried. If he had no intention of using it, why did he end up in a confrontation with a 17-yo unarmed without a gun, while he had a 9mm?

The actual confrontation went SOUTH. There resides the issue. A man with 9mm, block WATCH who had no clue what he was doing. So no foul, no fault.

The fact he was attacked doesn’t equate to homicide at 160 to 250 and armed. I guess he should have learned how to fight “before” he went hunting.

Have you considered that he simply has a baby-face? What are you expecting him to look like?
Like a 17 year old.

I have a 16 year old son. If I look at a picture of him at 12, he does not look the same.

But if I wanted to show him as a young boy, rather than almost a full grown man, I would supply a picture of him when he was 12.

All the emotional appeals and race implications are such trashy distractions from justice it’s a sin and a shame.

The matter rests upon the evidence. Currently there’s no evidence available that conflicts with Mr. Zimmerman’s account, only evidence that affirms it.

If Mr. Martin circled back around, initiated a confrontation with Mr. Zimmerman, decked him, jumped on him, bashed his head into the concrete, and then tried to pull Mr. Zimmerman’s gun the State has no case against Mr. Zimmerman.

Until the state produces real evidence to the contrary that’s the end of the legal case.

Calling him a “murderer” and blaming him for Mr. Martin’s death is just calumny.

it still doesn’t equate to justified homicide. Equal applied force.
Now that’s a fairy tale.

If a man was breaking into your home with a crowbar and you were there with small children would you put down a shotgun and get your crowbar so you could meet this fictional man with equal force?

Of course not. When your life, or another’s life, is on the line you want the most effective tool possible. That’s easily a firearm.

There’s no requirement for meeting an aggressor with equal force.

The only requirement is that you only employ lethal force when an aggressor puts you in reasonable fear for life or grievous bodily harm of yourself or others.

Situation of private property or business is a completely different senerio. I fully understand this.

Where talking on the street here.

Obvious to anyone who follows human rights news, there are still
police departments here and there that tolerate racism.

New Orleans PD will not tolerate it.

"NOPD officer suspended without pay for online comments on WWLTV.com

The New Orleans Police Department has launched an investigation of an officer and suspended him without pay for comments he posted online in response to a WWLTV.com story.

Jason Giroir is the subject of a new probe by the Public Integrity Bureau after a person who identifies himself as an NOPD employee by that name made online comments about the killing of Trayvon Martin.

"A little over two hours ago I learned about internet comments attributed to Officer Jason Giroir, including in those comments was that he was a member of the NOPD, which have caused me great concern concerning his fitness for duty," said Superintendent Ronal Serpas.

Giroir was suspended indefinitely and without pay, according to Superintendent Ronal Serpas, who added that he asked Chief Arlinda Westbrook of the Public Integrity Bureau to conduct an internal investigation.

"To say that I'm angry is an understatement," said Serpas. "Let me be clear: the hardworking men and women of the NOPD do not condone such statements."

...

“Act like a Thug Die like one!” says the comment under name Jason Giroir. The comment refers to the controversy surrounding the hooded sweatshirt Martin was reportedly wearing when he was gunned down. Activists across the nation have taken to wearing hoodies as a sign of solidarity with Martin’s family and against racial profiling.

Jason Giroir’s Facebook profile says that he is from Chalmette, went to Chalmette High School and lives in Covington.

Sadly, Sanford PD carries a very recent history of totally racist behavior - and cover-up.

Incorrect go back and read the links I posted. This is figment of your imagination, of what you THINK self defense is. Which has to be proven in court.

Treyvon Martin was in reasonable fear, could he had shot and killed this man? Of couse not this wild west understanding you have is lacking.

So if a woman is attacked on the street and shoots her attacker she’s guilty of murder for unequal force? In your “mind” she should have kept it hand to hand?

What did Teyvon Martin have to fear from a man that was walking to his car talking to a 911 operator?

Oh no doubt, East Haven CT and New-London CT have major issues right at this moment which no doubt are on-line. One with Hispanics, New-London with Blacks. Its unfortuante but its a reality.

George Zimmerman = woman attacked on street?

Not in this lifetime.

What did Teyvon Martin have to fear from a man that was walking to his car talking to a 911 operator?
Golly, sir, maybe he thought the man was going to GET A GUN -
not knowing George was already packing plenty of heat.

George had been FOLLOWING him.

Fear does funny things:shrug:

My point is the foolish fear issue that makes homicide legal. The boy was followed, when and if he was “in fear” did that give him the legal right to shoot a man as proposed?

Many know nothing of Zimmermans charactor but have placed themselves at the scene and made him the bad guy. Remember how sickened we were with the Duke Lacross situation (among others). Those guys looked guilty beyond belief and it turned out it all wasn’t what it seemed. Give it time. Stop feeding into the medias hype.

George’s character?

He thinks he knows better than 911’s advisor.
He’s a grown man who did his own thing and and killed a child.

By all means let us focus on that. What about the hype of media and 17-yo boys life lost and the grieving family. Lets not worry about that.

75% of America are not worried about their “character” results are the concern. Of a situation that first of all should have never occured then went completely South once it did.
