Seems to me those who sneer at other Catholic’s preference for the TLM consider themselves “more Catholic than the Pope” since our previous Holy Father gave Catholics the option and our current Holy Father actually celebrated the TLM when he was a cardinal.

Do those who cling to the Pauline Mass consider themselves “more Catholic”? I wonder…:hmmm:

As a Latin Rite Catholic, I do find the the Tridentine Mass very beautiful. But I also find the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil very inspiring. Does that make me any more catholic, because I have certain preferences?

I should hope not. Any Catholic who loves our Church and loves our Holy Father is Catholic, regardless of which *approved *Mass, Liturgy or Rite they prefer.

No such thing as “more” Catholic. Just preferences. 🙂

I love the Pauline Mass and I definitely don’t consider myself “more Catholic”. Members of my very orthodox parish (which is located in what was a very “progressive” diocese) have clung on as hard as they could for more than 25 years to keep our Latin Pauline Mass- which corresponds in all but one item to the list post #2.

So, when I read posts/hear comments by those who prefer the TLM (often on aesthetic grounds) claiming that the TLM is innately superior to the Pauline Mass or that those who cling to the Pauline Mass are suspect or “modernists” it sets my teeth on edge… and sometimes I react…

Try watching Mass anytime on EWTN… What you won’t find however is the bitter “I hate the modernistic NO Mass” commentary on the steps of the chapel, however…
But do you know the reason why?
Because the Deep Catholic NO Holy Mass is available to them.

I have no problem with a Charismatic mass. Even at every parish. But when someone is looking for the Deep Catholic Holy Mass and all they have available is the Modernists mass, it can be discouraging.

What is even worse is when one suggests a little tradition (like a Hail Mary) and you are told, “I don’t understand people like you.” by the DRE as one sits on the Education Committee.

My problem if finding a daily mass that is early enough for me to attend. I visited a church today that has a 6:15 am Mass, but when I walked in …there was a bowl set out and it was filled with the Eucharist. Oh My GOD, the body of Christ in a bowl like potatoe chips or something.😦

I couldn’t stay I was too upset.

If that was St Philomene chapel you went to I am sorry you left. I go there for the 6:15 mass whenever I am in town. Those non-consecrated “hosts” in a bowl also had a spoon for transferring one host into the chalice if you were going to receive. Many churches do that for their daily masses so the exact number of hosts are used at communion time. St Philomene chapel has daily Blessed Sacrament adoration from 5:30am till (I think) 8:00pm. Three cheers for St Philomene!!:clapping: It is the only church I have found in Sacramento where you can stop in to visit Christ any time of the day. They even have a young visiting priest who is the splitting image of a young John Paul II…accent and all!
