Ugh. Reminds me of the priest who responded to “and also with you,” with a cheery Thankyouverymuch!
Ugh. We need you in persona Christi, not one of the gang.
One of the supply priests who comes when our pastor is on vacation has given the homily before the readings so that we would be motivated to listen well when the readings came. He also invariably launches into some tuneless hymn instead of saying the Ecce Agnus Dei, and we are all supposed to sing a jillion verses with him. It’s not in the hymnals and only a small fraction of the faithful know it, so it’s not only distracting and confusing, it sounds awful. I went to Confession with him once and had him basically tell me my sin wasn’t sin.
So sad.
