He’s been asked if he believes in God. He doesn’t say yes, but he answers in a way that all but says no.I am going to take the word of his office over speculation

Certainly I’m opposed to legal abortion. I wouldn’t say I’m “anti-homosexuality” (after all, it’s just a fact that some people are born homosexual). As to transgenderism, I don’t know enough about the science to condemn, or applaud, people who believe themselves to be transgendered. Identity issues? I don’t know what that means.do you support their anti-abortion, ssm, trans gender, homosexuality, identity issues, etc.
i stand corrected, i agree with you that homosexuality isn’t the issue. what i meant to say was accepting the homosexual act as a norm.I wouldn’t say I’m “anti-homosexuality” (after all, it’s just a fact that some people are born homosexual).
where a person is born a man but decides he a woman, a person changes his/her sex, forcing people to call a person whatever they identify as, etc.Identity issues?
That’s not what it means. It’s intended to state that an oath to any religion is not to be required of any person holding public office. The Constitution basically says it is none of our business what religion a politician has
It is if it’s a concern of yours in deciding whether or not you’d like to vote for him.It is in no way my place to determine if he is Jewish enough
I’m not sure what “progressive only” means, but I support universal health insurance, unions, public housing, pro-labor policies, correctiive action n to alleviate the historical racism in our nation, progressive taxaction, the UN, and about a zillion others. And I came to all these positions through a lifetime of Cathoicc formation.what progressive only policies do you support?
i support universal healthcare but not obamacare. it was and is a farce. even one of the architects admitted it was only passed because of the “lack of transparency” and the" stupidity of the American voter"I’m not sure what “progressive only” means, but I support universal health insurance, unions, public housing, pro-labor policies, correctiive action n to alleviate the historical racism in our nation, progressive taxaction, the UN, and about a zillion others. Simply responding to this statement:I don’t see this as being on topic anyway.
It’s not a coincidence that anti-theists choose to support the Progressive wing. It’s no coincidence that Bernie Sanders, who is assumed to be an atheist, is the Progressive wing’s “leader”.
But are they? What have the so-called “progressives” done in the last 30 years or so about any of that? Seems to me it’s more “talk the talk” than “walk the walk”Justice, an end to racism, care for the downtrodden, the homeless, etc., access to medical care, are all progressive values.
Where in the gospel does it say that? Jesus was “outside” the social order of his time. He plainly said His kingdom is not of this world.Christ Himself was a radical progressive who upset the social order of His time.
30 years is too short a time to judge an entire philosophy. After all, we are constantly reminded that Democrats started the KKK after reconstruction. So apparently conservatives look way back in time when it is convenient for them and limit their view to 30 years when that is convenient for them. But are they? What have the so-called “progressives” done in the last 30 years or so about any of that?
His kingdom is not of this world, but he did teach values that totally transformed this world. He was definitely a Progressive in the general sense of the word. Of course that does not mean his values are associated with all Progressive movements, especially those of today. I still think the distinction between Progressivism as a general concept and Progressivism as expressed in various modern movements is not being made clearly enough.Where in the gospel does it say that? Jesus was “outside” the social order of his time. He plainly said His kingdom is not of this world.
Do you have sources for this?. After all, we are constantly reminded that Democrats started the KKK after reconstruction.
When did He ever say the government should pay for healthcare, housing or any of the causes “progressives” claim (but without the reality) to promote as governmental duties? His kingdom is not of this world, but he did teach values that totally transformed this world. He was definitely a Progressive in the general sense of the word
Awfully broad brushed as well as being an unwarranted personal attack. The modern Dem party might be considered to go back 40 years or thereabouts. Before that, it was more like the Repub party of today. So apparently conservatives look way back in time when it is convenient for them and limit their view to 30 years when that is convenient for them.
Sorry if I didn’t make it clear, but I do not believe that hoax. I mention it only because certain conservatives keep throwing it at me. But I’m with you on this.LeafByNiggle:![]()

When I did some quick googling, seems this is a Social Media “hoax/hyperbole” at best
I thought I was quite clear, that Jesus was a Progressive in the general sense of the word. I made no claim about Jesus promoting all the progressive agendas of today. Please read my entire post again.LeafByNiggle:![]()

Actually, the “No True Scotsman” fallacy is more appropriate to your position: “No true progressive would ever be in accord with Christ and Christian values.” Thank you for pointing that out.I have no desire whatever to make anyone angry, but some of the defenses of progressivism have a “no true Scotsman” ring to me.
i agree we need to address most of the issues he posted, how am i right wing? is inisfallen also right wing? No, your ideas are typical American right wing.
Not that I said anything remotely like that, of course.Actually, the “No True Scotsman” fallacy is more appropriate to your position: “No true progressive would ever be in accord with Christ and Christian values.” Thank you for pointing that out.
