And I pointed out that the Coast Guard has that covered very well, no need for a wall everywhere. Nobody on the right has suggested we need a wall around the whole country.
That is not true as Trump has repeatedly said that it needs to be a “cement wall” that would stretch across the entire southern border, and he repeated that claim on New Years Eve.

BTW, this whole “crisis” has been built on a stack of lies from Trump and those who parrot him as the numbers coming across the southern border has been decreasing since 2006, and the last year was the lowest it’s been since then. Also the claim of “thousands of terrorists” coming across the southern border is a lie as Chris Wallace on Fox pointed out this last weekend.

This. What Chris Wallace pointed out is that the 4000 terrorists were all apprehended at airports.
The number at the Southern Border? Zero.

Fake crisis? Good to know.

Drug That Killed Prince Is Making Mexican Cartels Richer, U.S. Says

By Azam Ahmed

MEXICO CITY — The drug that killed Prince has become a favorite of Mexican cartels because it is extremely potent, popular in the United States — and immensely profitable, American officials say.

Law enforcement and border authorities in the United States warn that Mexican cartels are using their own labs to produce the drug, fentanyl, as well as receiving shipments from China. Then the cartels distribute the substance through their vast smuggling networks to meet rising American demand for opiates and pharmaceuticals.

“It is really the next migration of the cartels in terms of making profit,” said Jack Riley, acting deputy administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration. “This goes to the heart of the marketing genius of the cartels. They saw this coming.”

Fentanyl/heroin is killing hundreds of Americans. Then, we have cases like that girl Molly Tibbets, killed by someone illegally in this country. These are not rare.

So, someone pulls this 4,000 terrorists caught at the border and says, oh, the Trump supporters said this, so if that is the strength of one’s argument, have at it.

Fentanyl is killing hundreds of Americans, it’s coming from Asia but it is also, along with other narcotics coming through the border. Many Americans are more concerned with this instead of drumming up some “oh, look they’re lying”.

Fighting the flow of narcotics has been what this wall is about as well.

BTW, I wouldn’t be so quick to call other people liars.

So you agree with what I actually said: “Nobody on the right has suggested we need a wall around the whole country”. Why did you say I was wrong and then provide a reference that didn’t support your claim?

Yup, Trump is fond of a bit of hyperbole but since you didn’t link to your sources, I don’t know what might have been uttered and the context. I’ll go with the more formally disclosed projections, which are in line with recommendations from the Border Patrol I believe. The latest request is certainly not for full cement along the southern border.

Even before this latest paired down request, they were never asking for funding for a full wall across the length of the southern border, that was never a request to congress.

Obama took lying to new heights with the Iran deal

Then, we learned that the Obama administration had secretly sent a plane to Tehran loaded with $400 million in Swiss francs, euros and other currencies on the same day Iran released four American hostages, which was followed by two more secret flights carrying another $1.3 billion in cash.

Now, in a bombshell revelation, Republicans on the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, led by Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), have revealed in a new report that the Obama administration secretly tried to help Iran use U.S. banks to convert $5.7 billion in Iranian assets, after promising Congress that Iran would not get access to the U.S. financial system — and then lied to Congress about what it had done. (Full disclosure: My wife works for Portman).

If we are singling out folks, we should at least be fair.

Let me recommend you reread what I wrote, plus you might actually review the many statements by Trump as to building a cement wall across the southern border. He didn’t agree to the slats until the last two weeks, thus changing his tune.

Also, a reminder that Trump had agreed to the 2+ billion for additional security for the border, but then he started to listen to Limbaugh and Coulter and the “Freedom Caucus”.

First of all, it’s not a CEMENT wall; it would be concrete wall.

Second, they built a bunch of different prototypes and Trump visited then in San Diego along with various other people to see what features they liked.

Third, they began using existing monies to upgrade existing wall and fence sections with the preferred features.

Fourth, here are on-site reports:

See the actual construction visits:

They’ve been adding wall and replacing sections of wall since he took office. They even had a contest where different proposals were put to the test and evaluated. The quips you may be referring to are irrelevant to the actual work happening, to the contracts being given to suppliers. Please focus on what’s actually happening and not proof texted campaign talk.

So, we can have thousands of miles of wall to protect rich peoples’ ears, but not to protect poor peoples’ jobs.

Would you have believed this Fact Check story if it had been put out by “Liberal News Today”?

What is there to fact check, this is a spin story.

The ‘public charge’ is to take care of our disabled citizens (US). Mexico and other governments are responsible to take care of their disabled, that’s how subsidiarity works. The US is not responsible for taking care of all the disabled in the world.

Why shouldn’t our immigration look at whether the new member of our family can be a contributing member? That’s how Canada, Australia, and most other countries manage their immigration.

I have studied that situation, including driving for hundreds of miles along the Wall in Arizona, and for you to imply that somehow this is just partisan politics on my part is simply not at all true, even if it is rather “convenient” for you to accuse me of it.

I have repeatedly said here that portions of the Wall need to be built, especially in or near metropolitan areas as many have been, and when I cite Trump’s own words on this all you do is to come back and accuse me of whatever, which is why it’s pretty much impossible to have a serious discussion with you because of your tactics.

And the biggest problem with the Wall is that it will take away from other solutions and other projects that could likely be much more worthwhile, such as hiring more agents and improving and increasing technology as they have done in Israel and saw for myself when I was there in 1991 and followed the road for miles.

I have never been for “open borders”, but I do feel we should do our Catholic best to try and help those in need that have been seeking refuge here. Is that really too much to ask?

Anyhow, please stop assuming that I’m so partisan that I automatically will take certain positions as that simply is not at all close to being true.

Yet you try to create discord by focusing on “Cement”. Why do you do that?
Because Trump has repeatedly said it would be a cement wall, even as late as New Year’s Eve. The rest of your post is just nonsensical as you again misportray what I have been repeatedly posting as I never said that the money was just for the Wall.

It is just frustrating dealing with your and someone else’s constant inventing strawmen is such a disingenuous way because I find myself having to fight these stupid little battles to correct you on things you should never assume. It’s also disgusting.

Please, either get it right, and if you can’t do that then at least just ignore my posts as it is just unethical to accuse me of positions that I simply do not have.

Frankly, having an “ignore” option would greatly enhance this site (hint, hint, moderators).

You are focused on some hyperbole and ignore the facts that are self evident.

A non partisan person takes a holistic view of the situation.
I try to do that and I recognize Trump speaks directional, with hyperbole. I suspect he uses the imagery of a big beautiful cement wall to represent the more complex nuances of border security.

That could be but they are the same, so thanks for the heads-up.

BTW, our son is a cement contractor, so he could make a lot of money if he was to build Trump’s wall. 😀

I’ve always thought that the word cement was a synonym for the word concrete.
It is not uncommon to hear that usage. The Beverly Hillbillies cee-ment pond was likely concrete.
But the Civil Engineers that I know react somewhat uncivilly when they hear this usage.
