Trump abruptly ends press conference after contentious exchange with reporters

The performative BS by these journalist is exhausting. The same journalist who asked why the White House was comparing America’s performance to other countries like “a global competition” has been comparing our performance to other countries for months.

Trump talks about China nonstop to everyone. Making this an “Asian American journalist” thing is dishonest.

Weijia should try out her abrasiveness on the hierarchy of the People’s Republic of China. I doubt she’d be yelling at them. She’d be exited out quickly to spend some time under serious arrest.

Most of these reporters aren’t here to tell us about the status of the virus treatments, where we stand on vaccine, etc. They’re there to report on themselves, disparage the President and the Country and then congratulate themselves for being brave enough to do it.

Why are you dragging personal race into this exchange of their’s StudentMI?

I don’t care for the communist government in China, but I would not refer to my Chinese friends (or even mere Chinese aquaintences for that matter) as “Wuhan folk”.

What is the purpose of this?

He walked away because the woman asked a question. He did not want the woman to ask him any questions. He has the right to end a press conference when a reporter is not following protocol. However, this was a pretty clear example that his press conferences are not about disseminating information as much as putting on a show. If his favorite reporters are not there to pitch him softballs, he will pick up the ball and go home.

A couple of weeks ago I was accused on here of being anti America but that is so far from the truth. Perhaps I had the American dream on a pedestal for a long time, but when I did get there a few years back, I can honestly say it was a brilliant cross continent trip. The best I’ve ever had. So much history and culture and so much contributed to the good of the world.

The last few weeks Australia and New Zealand have embraced the ANZAC spirit. The NZ PM took a virtual seat on the Australian parliament bench to discuss a new ANZAC alliance against corona virus. It’s been an amazing time of alliance against a common enemy. Corona virus.

The US had that sort of spirit as well. At school we learned the great themes The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the Marines Hymn. They were iconic statements of good overcoming evil in this world.

Now out of 300 million people, this person rises to the top of the heap that consistently acts like Angelica from Rugrats in responding to the society and life. It’s everybody elses fault but his of course.

I truly pray for the deliverance of the USA.

So why did Trump say “ask China” to an Asian reporter? What does asking China have anything to do with her question? Indeed it was a racist remark, but, coming from Trump, not surprising in the least. What a nasty man.]
 
Wrong. Many of the American people are too stupid to see the reality. I have little confidence in the American people of today.

I see it more as if the reporters are there to play games, waste his time, and not ask serious questions but instead try and grandstand, he will end things. The woman in question is a frequent provocateur who seems to only exist to try and trap him.

I don’t recall any other press briefings in my lifetime where the press was frequently trying to go after the President rather than pull out information to help the people listening. It certainly didn’t happen under Obama, did it? That’s why he doesn’t want to waste time with people like with people like Jiang. She’s a waste of space. If she could do her job like a normal human and ask decent questions that were not driven by her own agenda, perhaps she get the answers she was looking for.

I don’t know. That part was just weird, honestly. He had the testy exchange with the Asian-American reporter that ended with him telling her “Ask China.” Then he called on the other lady, but refused to take her question. Then he left. It was strange.
 
He lashed out from the royal throne.
Somehow it isn’t rude and elitist when Trump does it?

Everything you typed is potentially right. It also involved thinking that was not responsive to the question.
It all was about Trump, or the nation’s interest being subordinated to Trump’s political interest.
The question asks about testing in light of 80k dead. It asks about the health issues of the American people. China has nothing to do with us testing ourselves in our own interest. IT IS A NARCISSISTIC DEFLECTION AS USUAL.
 
I think it was a good question: Why treat testing as a competition, rather than a tool to an end, and avoid comment that end in the nation that you lead.

It is hard to know what to expect form this POTUS. IMO, a good answer would be to reflect on the difficulties and tragedies we are facing as a nation and how the testing program that continues to expand can be expected to help and five hope going forward.
 
He will he criticized relentlessly whatever he says or does.

I heard a guy yesterday say he didn’t say enough for Mothers Day. But if he said more, I’m sure they would have said he said too much instead of focusing on the problems of the nation. And on and on.

Is there nothing else going on that this incident is news?

Do you think other president’s don’t get loaded questions?
And by the way, you can limit loaded questions. Something never considered . You don’t have to call people infestation in the middle of border issues which are hot for every president.

It’s Mother’s Day. Thousands have lost a mother or a child.

Remember that saying “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything.”

Part of the job of leader is to be inspiring, to be calming.

George W. Bush issued a very good uplifting video message. The president attacked it.

This is what he does. To me, it would seem like an easy decision to refrain from divisiveness, especially now in an epic crisis. He hasn’t. I won’t hold my breath.
