Trump abruptly ends press conference after contentious exchange with reporters

What it has done, is create an uncivil conversation. A breakdown in civility that I think began with Clinton and Rush Limbaugh.
Conversations about the first Lady’s " cankles." Ken Stars report that was peppered with salacious passages. This was an escalation of what came before.
Jerry Faldwell’s Liberty publication had Hillary on the cover of one monthly issue and a story that she was Vince Foster’s adulteress lover and accusation of murderer.
IMMEDIATE NEXT MONTHS issue
Hillary Clinton was a Lesbian.
Rush’s success, competition for who could " top" the other guy" on cable and the new internet, began lowering the bar furthur as Carter success became the road to creating a niche, and Conspiracy theory media popped up.
The liberal cable competition then joined.
Trump I think intentionally made it a tool. When it’s good for him he cited it and features it, when bad, he seeks victim status and branded " fake news" into the American Lexicon.
We need a way to deescalate, return civility, or we really have no complaint of merit.
 
If his actions are defended, he sees a benefit, and he will find a way to augment.
 
Be careful. To some here, Rush Limbaugh is as much a god as Donald Trump.

I remember that demonstration and its supporters.
 
First, Trump is endlessly attacked about how he and his staff weren’t getting tested every day, then he started getting tested every day, and now they hector Trump about “wasting” tests and why he can get tested every day when all other Americans can’t. Truly amazing. And yes, that’s the obvious solution to this crisis: administering nearly 330 million tests every day.

And of course Trump is taking a lot of flak for abruptly ending the press conference, but why sit through the same stupid show when you’ve already had to sit through it countless times before?

Since the WH press corps has proven it is incapable of acting like professionals and showing respect for the man or the office, let them cool their heels for a while. Trump should instead take questions via Skype from local reporters all over America, who will ask about topics that Americans are genuinely concerned about, like their health, jobs, families, and Constitutional rights. That would not only be much better for informing Americans but maybe it would give the DC Democratic mouthpieces with bylines a remedial lesson in how real reporters do their job.

The fact draft dodgers who had enough pull not to have to flee to Canada were in that mix fighting with hardhats against the Kovic’s is an interesting ode to perversion.
I always thought Trump’s entry into darkness began with the Central Park 5.
 
I think you may be right, that he sees this as a game, as he does a lot of his responsibilities. He likes to win. That is why so many people like him, and why I think he is a poor leader. If he cannot find peace between himself and one woman, he has not chance to heal our divisions, but is only going to deepen our division.

The problem is, it is only questions that depart from his agenda that bring anything of value. You are no doubt right about her wanting to grandstand, but that sort of confrontation is what brings truth to light. That sort of confrontation can also make a president, and even hurt the career of the reporter that is shown to be vindictive and foolish.

Perhaps you are correct about her and that she is a poor reporter. I do no know her. I have learned to respect your opinion, though your political orientation might be a factor in your evaluation.

If any president is suffering from paranoid delusion, I would think it in public interest for us all to see that. I would have liked to have heard a real answer.

There was an easy answer, by the way. Simply say you do not see testing as a competition. Comparisons are only used to show context. If it is a competition, he was rooting for all teams at once. Make the reporter look foolish for trying to read his mind.

You are correct, in my opinion, and this point does not need to be lost. President Trump is not alone in splitting the country. However, leadership is not about trading insults. It is about being an inspiring example, which requires turning the other cheek, servanthood, and humility.

I do not know. The internet is not exactly known as an intellectual treasury of reasoned discussion. If he picked the reporter, he might as well just give a monologue and bypass the Q and A. I would take a different approach. Have an aide give the press conference, but instead of picking someone he likes, pick someone more in the middle, or at least one who understands the opposition to him, and is willing to represent his best interest 100%, then have the humility to back off and let someone better at this take care of it. @Dr_Meinheimer? @Ridgerunner? Care to throw your hat in the ring?

Now how can I address those three ideas and Donald Trump, and accommodate everyone suggesting I say something nice about him? This is why I am a victim of the nice test.

So you think the Trump election was a pull to the left? That’s rather odd. My suggestion was based on leadership, not a continuation of petty Republican posturing. I refuse to believe that there are no Republicans out there capable of leading. We had Bush and Reagan. There are more.

I’m probably a poor one to ask, as I find Trump’s press conferences entertaining. I think of press conferences by a president as a combination of real information shared, real questions answered, and enough personality to persuade viewers that the president is not a robot running on a program. Trump’s personality, which is liked by some and hated by others, is pugnacious at times, though not always. It has seemed to me that he responds reasonably well to a reasoned question, but responds in kind when treated with disrespect.

Frankly, I’m not sure there is any such thing anymore as a press person who is “in the middle”.

Putting the US first?? What other national leader daily bashes his/her governors and mayors through press conferences and tweets. Endless rude, shocking, divisive tweets about his countrymen, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A GLOBAL CRISIS. Did you realise that a patriot is someone who fights for the common good of the whole, not partisan agenda’s. He is the architect of the Ununited States of America. His fans can no longer feel like Americans or patriots and definitely cannot identify as traditional conservatives.
