The objective is to keep conservatives from talking, and it’s working.
Well, sure. It is a blackshirt tactic. One can usually tell who the authoritarians are by the intention to silence opposing views.
We see it in leftist controlled social Media and the cancel culture.

This Goodyear thing and even Goya, however, Are not the same thing. They’re just boycotts.
Claims that speech is violence, social media censoring speech at the behest of the left, that is dangerous. That is outside the American tradition, but if disintegration of the American is what one wants, that doesn’t matter.

Ridgerunner:
One cannot overtly favor Donald Trump at Goodyear.
One cannot favor Biden by use of campaign headgear either.
Are BLM hats and insignia banned, too?

I prefer to think that Goodyear recognizes that racism is not a Republican v. Democrat issue. Republicans are not all racist, nor are all Democrats free of racism. Concern for racial equality is not a partisan issue.

Goodyear is not silencing free speech. It is enforcing workplace priorities and propriety. This is one of the dumbest boycotts ever. It is indicative of Trump’s hypocrisy in his understanding of the business of business.

I would expect a workplace policy to be for avoiding conflicts in the office.
Ergo the ability to display BLM merch, and not a MAGA hat? Their policy is inconsistent nonsense. BLM is as controversial a slogan these days as anything, but good luck trying to ban that in the workplace. That’d be racist…

And the slide that indicated Blue Lives Matter was banned - that’s cool too? So black Americans good, cops bad. Got it. Just admit the policy was ill-conceived and poorly thought out, of this was legit. Goodyear has seemingly pushed back, but didn’t actually explain the exposed policy.

I worked for 27 years at a place that never allowed slogans on hats, buttons or even Tshirts with ANY saying on them…even though we wore lab coats over them. We all accepted it…it was fair and equitable. No one was being silenced. It was a common sense rule. Once a year, we were allowed to wear our favorite football jersey during the start of the playoffs. Since it is Broncos country, the majority were Bronco jerseys and those that wore another teams jersey were ribbed a bit in good fun. It was the only time…once a year. It’s not that hard to avoid politics…you just make it across the board.

With everything now politicized, there really isn’t any symbol or organization that is neutral. That’s how bad we’ve gotten. I say just forbid all of it.

That brings up a separate issue of copycat slogans. If the slogan "blue lives matter " had come first, it would only have the connotation of police support, not of being non-black lives matter. That is the problem of copying others, but not.

But again, we do all know that MAGA was an actual campaign slogan, right?

Some workplaces don’t allow either. Though BLM is not a campaign identifier. An equivalent would be not allowing workers to wear atire supporting either Trump/Pence or Biden/Harris

It wasn’t long ago that Taco bell fired an employee for BLM atire; they preferred instead to allow their employers to wear corporate approved atire expressing justice and equality that didn’t include that phrase.

If I remember correctly, after public back-lash, they did allow employees to temporarily wear it until they were able to get the approved clothing out.

I imagine the response to it will vary by the community. That said, I haven’t been in my workplace since march. Entry is prohibited until the Covid-19 numbers drop. And i believe my state had more new infections o.j ns per capital than Florida a few days this week.

Actually it is a Dem issue. Racial division has been part of the Dem stategy for a long time, accelerated by Obama’s proclamations about Ferguson, Baltimore & others.

Isn’t it crazy? Those who cite racism are called racists. It wasn’t Obama who popularized and continued birtherism, widely acknowledged as racist. When has Trump ever sought to be a unifier? He sure didn’t at Mount Rushmore! Remember Obama’s famous speech in in '04 when he said “There is one United States of America.” Trump has never even hinted at that – all he preaches is ‘us vs. them’

Your post is a statement straight out of Kafka.

Sure, its the Democrats.

" President Trump’s unyielding push to preserve Confederate symbols and the legacy of white domination, crystallized by his harsh denunciation of the racial justice movement Friday night at Mount Rushmore, has unnerved Republicans who have long enabled him but now fear losing power and forever associating their party with his racial animus.

Although amplifying racism and stoking culture wars have been mainstays of Trump’s public identity for decades, they have been particularly pronounced this summer as the president has reacted to the national reckoning over systemic discrimination by seeking to weaponize the anger and resentment of some white Americans for his own political gain.

Trump has left little doubt through his utterances the past few weeks that he sees himself not only as the Republican standard-bearer but as leader of a modern grievance movement animated by civic strife and marked by calls for “white power,” the phrase chanted by one of his supporters in a video the president shared last weekend on Twitter. He later deleted the video but did not disavow its message."
