maybe she can be the first in having many of these types of cases reviewed. President Trump is just beginning on prison reform. who knows where this could lead. prison reform is definitely needed.

Your link added no depth to understanding her crime, except a quote from the judge that she was entrepreneurial, I assume at the money laundering aspect. Nothing indicates she was a power player in this drug ring. 20 yrs time served isn’t a slap on the hand for her first offense.
en·tre·pre·neur a person who starts a business and is willing to risk loss in order to make money” or whether it carries an additional connotation of far-sightedness and innovation. The answer, perhaps unsatisfyingly, is that it can go in either direction. Using that definition, she was the kingpin.

Using that definition, I think she was the kingpin.

It’s a possible conjecture, but you have to reach a bit to get there, it’s not clear and definitive.

Shouldn’t we be able to find it stated more explicitly in the court records, if that were the case?

Unusual, that there is not more about her case except that every website and it’s grandmother are copying and pasting the same news story almost verbatim.

Let it be known that Judge Julia Gibbons is a George W Bush Appointee.

It safe to assume she is a Republican.

You have an option: Believe the words of a Republican Judge appointed by a Republican POTUS or not.

Yes, she may be the brains and ringleader of that drug group, I just didn’t think it was definitive based on a vague inference from a quote of the judge without context. I also noticed none of the stories refuted her claim that she didn’t do any of the deals or handle any of the drugs.

A smart kingpin tries to stay from the actual deals and handling of drugs for one reason. “Plausible Denial”.

And I really don’t think the News has an interest in debunking her verbal comments. It would serve no profit for them.

I on the other hand would love to read the court room transcripts to see what evidence the prosecutors actually had that warranted a life-sentence.

So 2 others got sentenced.
So why did not McDonald not get commuted as well.
There is a real story here and neither side wants to cover.
Both sides have whitewashed what she did. There is a bigger story here.

Thanks HCTC, that article does say she was the leader of the drug ring.

McDonald may already be out of prison, but i’m not sure about that,

CORRECTION: If McDonald is alive, he should still be in prison. The life sentence without parole was mandated by law due to the amount of money involved.

Kingpin or not, she served longer than some people convicted of murder.

There is no way to know how many died as a result of her cocaine enterprise.
Sounds like you’ve switched teams and gone ‘old school’
Do you have a Duterte shrine in the corner of your room?
