Trump or Hillary?

Nevertheless, Bernie Sanders is the more dangerous choice of the two.
Really?

Which one would you rather have with access to the “red button” (i.e. the nuclear arsenal)? A well-meaning socialist or a megalomaniacal nutbar?

Such hyperbole isn’t going to win votes for Hillary, or Bernie.

I’d much rather have Trump at the negotiating table in a crisis, at least he knows how to play poker.

The DNC already stands behind an industry that sees 1,000,000 plus murders a year in abortion.

Oh, I’m a great poker player, but I’m no politician. The two aren’t necessarily compatible.

Trump seems to think insults, vulgarity, and hyperbole will win him votes.

It seems the polls are only reinforcing that his tactics are actually working. I think that saddens me the most about this election cycle. I know there is always the mud-slinging and name-calling, but it just seems to have been taken to another level this time around. I’m afraid it’s setting the tone for a “new normal” for future elections. That doesn’t bode well for civility in politics.

I see this fear expressed a lot, but I’m not sure it’s warranted. I know Trump comes across as crass and hot-headed and all, but I would hope that it is a bit more difficult for a president to exercise the nuclear option than simply a momentary lapse of self-control. There may be plenty to fear from a Trump presidency, but I don’t think nuclear war is one of them.

Perhaps I am being naïve… 🤷

Judging by the polls, it looks like it is working. IMO that says as much about the voters as it does the candidate.

You highlight a serious problem with the country, people getting all their information and ‘critical thinking’ from Comedy Central.
Comedy Central? I think you mean HBO.

And I’d say it highlights a bigger issue. That some of the better sources of actual critical thinking and social investigative commentary in this country are coming from sources like Comedy Central and HBO. Yes it’s a glib satirical clip, but none of the points raised are invalid, and are far too often glossed over. It’s baffling to me that a guy like Trump with such a checkered past, of questionable ethics, and history of flip flopping… is not called out on it more.

Here’s my question about all this: how many of us are thinking “No matter who gets the Republican nomination, Hillary Clinton will be the next president”?

I don’t think she’s electable regardless of who the opponent is.

How did we get into this mess? How do we keep from crying? We have to get past the current day and keep going - come on folks keep moving forward no matter how bleak the future looks.

There now, don’t you all feel better? Please do not tell me Hilary is going to be elected President because that cannot be true! That is false and nothing but fear mongering.:grouphug:

Most recent polling shows Bernie or Hillary beating Trump. If Trump takes Super Tuesday as predicted, he’ll be the nominee. No candidate who has won out on Super Tuesday hasn’t been his party’s nominee since 1988.

So while it may be fear mongering, it’s backed by historical probability.

I understand that many devout Catholics lean towards a Republican vote in general elections for good reasons. I wonder who Catholics would vote for if the choice is Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump.
