I grew up knowing a few blacks. I have had black co-workers.

But I never heard of Juneteenth until this episode. Neither did anyone I know. So it seems the claim isn’t that far fetched. Give Trump some credit for helping to shine a spotlight on this date in history and showing enough respect for it to reschedule the rally? Nah, never happen, lol.

Im surprised he had no awareness of the day but I don’t blame someone for not knowing something. I was pleased he rescheduled his rally. He has his moments…

I never heard of Juneteenth until the thing with Trump. Emancipation seems like a worthy thing to commemorate with a secular holiday in the US. I’m surprised it hasn’t been promoted more before this.

EDIT: I just looked up what states observe it, and almost all do. Interesting that I’ve never heard it mentioned before in such states. Is it more of a quite, somber remembrance?

My city is 49.08% White and 43.65% Black. I can honestly say that before yesterday I had never heard of the holiday.
Are you aware of the Negro National Anthem?

I guess Trump will take credit for popularizing that, too.

I knew of Juneteenth for years.
