Thank you, I suddenly understand it all: not only is America going to get rid of abortion on demand, but it will also overturn the landmark SCOTUS decision Roe v Wade, and outlaw all the types of abortion that were legal before Roe, and for the first time in over a century punish the “murderers” who have abortions.

TY for opening my eyes to your glorious future.
Except that it’s almost certainly wrong.

Back before Roe when abortion was illegal everywhere and when abortion was considered an abomination by almost everyone, women were not prosecuted for having abortions.

There is no reason at all to think they would be if Roe was overturned, and every reason to doubt it.

So if abortion is illegal and women aren’t prosecuted for having them, what will prevent lots of women from just performing their own abortions during the early stages of pregnancy? It would probably be easier than ever now with drugs like RU-486 and misoprostol. The latter is easily available under the counter even at flea markets in southern Texax where it is smuggled over from Mexico.

Let’s get this thread back to it’s original intent. Regardless of what Donald Trump or ANY OTHER POLITICIAN says about abortion, Donald Trump had a major flame-out this week on a number of fronts. At this stage in the game, the question is - does he want to lose or is he just destined to lose?

You don’t believe murderers should be punished?
There does seem to be an inconsistency to say something is murder but then at the same time not wanting to punish those involved in the murder. It doesn’t make any difference if before Roe or now.

Why the quotation marks around the word, murderers? Don’t you think women who exercise their legal and constitutional right to have an abortion know that they are choosing to end their pregnancy?

He is the leading Republican candidate. He is way ahead of Kasich in delegate count.

Sorry LS. I didn’t see your post about Trump’s flame-out. I’ve always wondered if he truly wanted to win.

Where does being the leading Republican get him at the convention if after the first ballot in Cleveland he falls short? If his lead begins to crack like a wall, I suppose maybe he could take in a game at Progressive Field or visit the Rock n Roll HOF.

It is possible for him to get more votes on the second ballot if he makes deals, which he claims he is good at doing.

Possible but maybe to be walking on safer waters, he would be wise to invite delegates to Mar- a-Lago between early June and mid July to do his deals.

Of course there’s not because most of the country does not consider abortion, particularly early abortion, to be murder. But the end result of Roe v. Wade being overturned would lead to women who have abortions being punished. Policies have consequences. To claim otherwise is painfully illogical and also insulting to women. Trump spoke the logical truth. He gives women much more credit as thinking, sovereign beings than the anti-choicers do.

Today, more and more women seek medical abortions through misoprostol. As more and more clinics close, women get these pills over the internet and on the black market and then take things into their own hands. Who will be punished then when no other “abortionist” is involved save the woman herself?
Roe beings reversed would result in it going back to the states, where each state would legislate on the legality of it. It wouldn’t automatically make abortions illegal.

I was being sarcastic because I don’t buy into the Left’s demagoguery.

See my answer to your previous question.

Precisely. The Constitution enumerates certain powers to the federal government, which are few. All others are to be referred back to the states. Roe v Wade would not have passed at the time, so a case was brought, and unelected justices decided it was legal. Many legal scholars have cited this as legislating from the bench. The Court is getting more into this trend and people don’t seem to care. Personally, I think many don’t know enough about the structure of our government to know the duties assigned to the three distinct branches of government. That is one of the reasons I don’t think Trump would make a good president. And he also loses badly to Hillary in all the polls.

This is interesting…

usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/04/05/trump-takes-credit-bernie-sanders-success/82642282/
Bernie Sanders owes Donald Trump a big thank you for his success against Hillary Clinton — according to Trump anyway.
Clinton has been reeling since Trump “really hit her” two months ago after she accused him of sexism, the bombastic billionaire told Sean Hannity in an interview Monday alongside his wife, Melania Trump.
“Bernie got all the credit because she went down and all of the sudden he started doing well,” Trump said. “You know when I did that two months ago she went right down.”
Trump said he has to “take a little credit” because Sanders has won several primaries recently and is polling well in Wisconsin.
The GOP front-runner may be playing a little fast and loose with the concept of cause and effect here, as it seems unlikely Democratic voters were greatly swayed by his “hits” on Clinton.
