Accross the Pond, here in England, Trump is regarded as a figure or ridicule by most people. His name doesn’t help, as (I’m sure most of you know) to ‘trump’ in English slang, means to break wind! (and thereby run the risk of blowing off his toupee)

He is seen as a dangerous man who will do whatever he can to win votes, by preying on people’s fears and fatigue with the over-zealous PC movement and hunger for something that finally sends a big 2-fingered salute to the hand-wringing liberals. We’re worried that if he can find enough Jerry Springer audience-types to vote for him, he’ll do quite well.

I think most people in the UK are hoping that common sense will win the day and he will receive a vote of ‘no thanks’ - but lessons will be learned about what drives people to even consider voting for a man like him in the first place, because he has certainly hit a vein of desperation and he’s mining it for all he’s worth.

Once again, we the voters in the USA will decide for ourselves - thanks for all the interest. We realize that we are always taking care of our own problems and if the Good Lord is willing we can get through this one. Maybe things are going swimmingly on your side of the ocean and everyone is above average and happy, hope so.

Ah. So the donate option is just there to make his supporters feel better. How kind of him.

I believe facts. If a candidate wants to claim that he’s self-funding his campaign, he probably should make clear that he’s actually loaning his campaign funding while also utilizing individual donations. That’s fact. And it clearly contradicts his narrative.
He has always acknowledged small donors.

He has also renounced all PACs using his name. The amount of money spent by candidates’ PACs is ridiculous and there is no cap on the amount of money PACs can raise.

I will not support Trump or Cruz, if either is the Republican nominee. If Kasich is the nominee, which I highly doubt, I MIGHT vote for him instead of Clinton, but probably in the end will vote for Hillary despite certain misgivings I have about her. I cannot help wondering, however, why there is so little choice among the Democratic candidates. Is it because we OWE Hillary for 2008? Is there NO other good Democratic candidate this election cycle instead of the recycled Hillary? And, with regard to Trump, I understand it is the anger of the people that made him a viable candidate for some; still I can’t help wondering how we got into such a mess?
MB,

In all truth, I do think the Democratic Party as a whole sees Hillary as inevitable - not just the Leadership and the Elites, but the little tiny folks like me. Truly, many of us remain very enthusiastic about Hillary. We want to see her lead. We have stood with her for a long time. We might be a little less pie-eyed than we once were, but we don’t regret our loyalty. She has earned it. She has been battered for it.

There ARE lots of wonderful young Democrats and we will see them on the national stage more vividly on the coming years. But this year, they were smart enough to understand our Party’s fealty to HRC. You may not have that same fealty and I surely would not begrudge you that.

I adore Bernie and his ideas are clearly our Party’s future. This is a good thing and I think the Party gets it. But this is not the year for Bernie.

imho

I didn’t say that.
Well, you defended Trump’s donations to Planned Parenthood. I guess I am not sure of your basis for doing so. Hillary is unacceptable for supporting abortion politically, but its OK that Trump supports abortion financially?

Where is your proof that Trump donated directly to PP?

So you think that Democrats are on the road toward a Socialist platform?

His own statements. He said he “probably” has donated money to PP, but claims he can’t remember the details (despite claiming he has the “greatest” memory). He won’t release any financial documents, so we can’t really know for sure.

I, too, have wondered why we have only Sanders and Clinton running on the Democratic side and such slim pickings on the Republican side. I think some Democrats might feel they owe Hillary something, but really, anyone who really wants to run, should.

I can sort of understand how we got into such a mess. People have been upset and angry for years with all the broken promises, etc. that politicians make, but what I can’t understand is why anyone would see Trump as a viable candidate who would truly have their best interests at heart.

Yes, that was hilarious. As was the skit from last week in which HRC slowly morphed into Bernie.

I’ll reveal. 🙂 Big Bernie supporter. But hell will freeze over before I vote for Trump or Cruz. I may go for Jill Stein ultimately.

EDIT: I should note, too, that I’ll probably end up vote swapping so I can vote for Stein while still ensuring a counterpart in another state votes Dem.
Thank you, Grace! 🙂

Except he’s really not. He’s loaning his campaign $ that he can (and I assume will) collect on. And he’s accepting donations – that’s what the large “Donate” buttons are for on his campaign’s web site.
LOL You sure got that right, Grace! Why else would he have the large “Donate” buttons there, right? I’m not laughing at you, I’m laughing at the Donald, and your post just made me chuckle.

“The Palestinians must come to the table, knowing that the bond between the United States and Israel is absolutely and totally unbreakable,” Mr. Trump said.
I thought he said that he was going to be neutral between Israel and Palestine. I am getting to like Trump and Hillary less and less.

“He doesn’t ask for donations.” Why, then, are there donate options available via his site? What is he doing with these buttons if he isn’t asking for donations?

And we’re talking here about an estimated 6 million in individual donations.
I wish I could get six million people each to give me $20! 😉

Excellent speech by Trump at AIPAC, seems a bit more structured than his usual speeches. Maybe the transcript will be made available somewhere, currently going on.

Bringing the house down.

I heard in one place, there were many protesters outside.
I just watched Trump’s speech at AIPAC. I’ve got to say, Trump + teleprompter is a beautiful thing. He’s able to give so many more details than in his usual stream-of-consciousness speeches.

He needs to do this kind of speech more.

So it’s wrong of Obama - and any Democrat - to use a teleprompter, but “beautiful” when Trump does it?

And it’s wrong of Hillary to be honest and say she supports abortion, but it’s fine if Trump gives Planned Parenthood an undisclosed amount of money? And refuses to disclose his tax returns?

And it’s wrong for Democrats to accept donations for support, but it’s fine for Trump to accept them because he’s just doing so out of the goodness of his heart?

That seems to be what you’re saying. Do we have it wrong?

So far 7,548,429 people have voted for Trump. Some small donors are probably chipping in more than my $20.
Even if they only chipped in $1.00 each, I’d love to have it! 😃

I did donate to Bernie Sanders and to Hillary Clinton, but they are not self-funded.

I never said Obama was wrong to use teleprompter.

I think it’s a good skill to be able to speak without a teleprompter. I’ve never seen Obama speak without one. Have you? Actually I probably have and remember him stuttering a lot.

I’m not saying it’s wrong to accept donations, either. Trump is doing something new rejecting donor class and special interests, which I think is a very good thing.
