But maybe if Trump does get the nomination, he’d put differences aside and nominate Ted for the Supreme Court! And, Carson would be good as an Surgeon general. Maybe he’d be able to get the fraud out of Medicare and eliminate the paperwork for doctors that comes with it!
Maybe he will do away with crime (fraud) and lawsuits(paperwork) by, you know, Trump.

Does anyone actually believe all this “hope and change” stuff? In a Trump America I see millions who will stand agape at the reality of what they bought into, like a driver who just bought a lemon from a slick new car salesman. We will see the conservative equivalent of eight years ago when naiveté gave way to shock when Obama did not pay the electric bill or gas up their cars.

It looks like Trump is tied with Kasich on fundraising.

The average contribution to trump campaign is about $50.00.

A great reason for small donors to support trump despite his plan of self funding is how much attack he’s getting from other candidates and super PACs. Frankly his supporters are sometimes upset how little trump is spending. I can’t stress that enough.

Trump has a donate button on his website, but other than that he doesn’t fundraise. He never asks his supporters for money, ever. You can bank on that.

Question: Can a Catholic, in good conscience, vote for someone who is not Christian, like Donald Trump?
He states that he is a Christian, so whether we can see it or not, we should not state that he is not a Christian, as that becomes *personal *judgment. But yes, a Catholic can, and some will, vote for a candidate like Trump (or even Clinton) in good conscience.

I can’t.

Even if they only chipped in $1.00 each, I’d love to have it! 😃

I did donate to Bernie Sanders and to Hillary Clinton, but they are not self-funded.
How can you donate to people who are overtly pro abortion?

I’m new to this thread but at a total loss as to why people could support someone who lies and cheats and is endorsed by Planned Parenthood? (a few on the LONG list of transgressions!)

I’m not sure I understand peoples extreme dislike of Trump?

How could Hilary Clinton be a better President than Trump?

He seems like he actually cares about people at least?

Welcome to the trump thread! 🙂

I wasn’t meaning to make a personal judgment. I just heard that Pope Francis said he wasn’t Christian and it made me wonder.

There has been a whole thread about what the Pope said and you can find it right here on the world news page if you want to do a search.

The short story is the Pope clarified he didn’t say Trump was not a christian.

I don’t understand how a practicing Catholic can vote for a candidate who approves actions that are absolutely contrary to church teaching. The only thing I can come up with is that they put politics before the church.

But all candidates, on both the republican and democratic side don’t go with Catholic teaching 100% of the time. What should we do, not vote?

I mean I’m not voting for Trump, he’s not even my 2,000th choice.

👍

We did have a catholic president in this country, right? He wasn’t that great by catholic standards, either.

I think he was an excellent president (take away that there were rumors he was with Marilyn Monroe) but even though his presidency was short he did a lot of good.

Look, God knows we’re not going to be 100% free of sin. We’re going to make mistakes, politicians, fortunately or unfortunately have to bend on a lot of things to get things done. That’s why I don’t think you can eliminate someone just bc of one issue. That’s just my 2 cents.

But why?

I dont understand why people dislike him so much? I’m very confused…. he seems like he’s all for protecting US citizens.

What’s so bad about him? My husband thinks he’s great! He seems to say all the right things…

I’ve noticed theres a lot of dislike of Trump on these forums and I don’t know what we’re missing??

I cant believe that people would consider Hilary Clinton for one second over Trump?

  1. Made me chuckle. Thank you for posting that. 🙂
From my perspective, that is not an upside. If we apply the same logic to him, he funds almost all his own campaign, so his presidency will be an exercise in self-interest.
Personally, I’ve never taken “he’s a billionaire funding his own campaign” as a good reason to vote for him.

Of course, now a representative of “Republican orthodoxy” will have to tell me “How dare you not vote for the front runner! You’re anti-billionaire aren’t you?”

I wasn’t meaning to make a personal judgment. I just heard that Pope Francis said he wasn’t Christian and it made me wonder.
That is not quite what the Popes said about him. Pope Francis remarked that a person who builds only walls and not bridges is not Christian (as in, like Christ). Remember we all have ways we are not like Christ. The emphasis on the comment was that such a wall was also done without a bridge. Think metaphor. Think Bush’s statement, “I’m a uniter, not a divider.”

Personally, I do not like all his lies. I do not like his life-long pursuit of wealth. Then there was his cheating on his wife. Most of all, I do not like his bullying. We teach our kids the principles of anti-bullying in schools, or try to. Do we forget that children learn more by modeling?

Well, the Pope did criticize Trump. Media outlets reported it as him saying “Trump isn’t Christian” – funny because the media is usually so good. 🙂

But anyhow, I think it’s more important to ask “Who do I want to vote for?” than to ask “Who do I *not *want to vote for?”

You are right; none of the candidates follow Catholic moral - or social - teaching 100%.

I feel the same as you, and like Trump, we shouldn’t be judged just because we vote for someone some here don’t like.

I wouldn’t vote for Trump at all. Ever. Even if he was running unopposed. It’s just the principle of not giving him my vote.
