The Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol Agents are dedicated Americans in service to our country; they are NOT “paramilitaries we need to be worried about”. Insulting Americans to claim they are “fascists” ready to “make their final move” is offensive IMO.

For this to be true they would have to follow the law.
Oh, wow, guess what! Their policy to follow the law is included in the article: “their superiors said policy was to obey the law and that they would face personal liability if they complied with Trump’s orders.”

CBP and ICE are the paramilitaries we need to be worried about. They’ll be at the forefront when American fascists make their final move.
No John, the gangs that operate with impunity across our national border are the paramilitaries the we need to be worried about. They’ll be at the forefront when the American (liberal) fascists make their final move.

Let me see. A few examples… mayors and governors disregard the law and say they are sanctuary cities and states. They disregard the law dealing with ICE. They disregard the law concerning drug legality (marijuana). Certain cities disregard the law (and the Constitutional right) concerning gun ownership.
The president must follow every single law. So he follows the law and time after time is taken to court (preferably the 9th Circuit) so it will be overturned.
We are either a nation of laws for EVERYONE, or we aren’t. This picking and choosing which laws SOME of us will obey isn’t right and doesn’t work.

Do you have evidence of that? Because simply assuming it is a bad thing on a lot of different levels.

I’m sure, there are two sides to this story. I’m not knocking CNN, they have a reputation but I’m certainly not going to judge that the administration told agents to defy the law. That appears to be vastly premature to say.

Might be there’s “blocking” and “blocking”. It is my understanding that if illegals are from Central America, border patrol can’t deny them entry and can’t send them back. But the timing of allowing entry might not be specified in the law. Could be just slowing down the process so they can actually deal with them and not just let them in without any processing at all.

If I understand this correctly, the agents were told not to disobey the law even if Trump did suggest they should disobey the law.

Perhaps Trump was just employing hyperbole.

dvdjs: “Can you cite the law that they are disregarding?”
There is no federal law. Is in court as violating Section 1324 Title 8 of the US Code.

dvdjs: “And should not be tellig people to flout it.”
I never said he should or shouldn’t.

Yes dvdjs, I know 1324 might be in doubt, that remains to be seen. So, just for those who like to argue about every word, I will re-write my original post…

And from previous experience, I know you ALWAYS want the last word, so knock yourself out, I’m not going to play. God bless and have a nice day.

I read he is quite adept at playing some politics for the crowd yet taking a different tone for legal compliance. Example being the whole Mueller investigation. He was publicly very negative on the Special Counsel yet was very supportive in providing all information requests. There were no disappearing documents, no ‘bleach bit’ was used on the server.
