Indeed. I thought about starting a thread “Rubio v GOP”, but then I thought it would be a bit redundant since someone has already started a thread about the push for him to drop out.
It’s called eating your young.

Though I wonder how Florida feels about New York and Texas moving in and taking over the show. Should be interesting.

Umm, why is it ok to take this guy’s word on Trump’s character from 50 years ago, but Trump’s appearances on Howard Stern, his bankruptcies, his pro-choice stance, his support of Democrat candidates, his marital infidelities etc, are not fair game because he’s conservative now?

I see, he was a great teen, rebelled against himself for 40 + years and now when running for president, he’s back to his old self again.

I see.
Great point!

And what was that point Ticktin made? ‘People don’t really change much from the age of 17, 18.’

Well, I would actually disagree with that statement and say a lot of people can and do. Yet if we take what he says then we also have more reason to doubt Trumps new position on his conservative principles, mainly abortion.

An Appeal to Our Fellow Catholics
by Robert P. George & George Weigel
March 7, 2016 11:59 AM
Donald Trump is manifestly unfit to be president of the United States. His campaign has already driven our politics down to new levels of vulgarity. His appeals to racial and ethnic fears and prejudice are offensive to any genuinely Catholic sensibility. He promised to order U.S. military personnel to torture terrorist suspects and to kill terrorists’ families — actions condemned by the Church and policies that would bring shame upon our country. And there is nothing in his campaign or his previous record that gives us grounds for confidence that he genuinely shares our commitments to the right to life, to religious freedom and the rights of conscience, to rebuilding the marriage culture, or to subsidiarity and the principle of limited constitutional government.
(Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere.)

Thanks George - I was wondering when this would start to happen in and around the Church; it is important and necessary.

Probably one of those mostly true statements.
Although brain development is subject to significant individual variation, most experts suggest that the brain is fully developed by age 25. For some people, brain development may be complete prior to age 25, while for others it may end after age 25. The mid-20s or “25” is just an average age given as checkpoint for when the brain has likely become mature.

Ahh, the opinion of someone who works in an establishment think tank.

I thought our constitution was clear on stating qualifications. All this hand wringing that Trump might not be a real conservative is pathetic.

Are people familar with the ‘no true Scotsman’ logical fallacy?

George Weigel is just a GOP establishment policy wonk now?

Wow, I can’t keep up here in la la land (and I have a decent chunk of Scottish in me - veggie haggis only). What is next.

No one said you can’t mention the negative. I’m posting the link because on this forum and in other news outlets the only thing people see is the negative.

Can’t mention the negative? :rotfl: Where do you suppose all this dirt is coming from, the Rep party and Romney followers who sank millions into this as they can’t stand the rebellion nor can the media who Trump trashes on the regular. This is about winning and ugly if need be I don’t think you get that. No-one cares about polite or PC nonsense, they’re sending a fighter to a fight. And its gonna be a blood bath for poor Hillary of Bernie. 🤷

You don’t see that?

Sheez least see things for the way they are. To these people its becoming obvious the GOP will not recognize the will of the voters. They are teaming up with the hard core politicians like Romney to do everything they can to trash Trump. I give them credit they appear to be standing firm and refuse to be manipulated by the old GOP party. 🤷

Which of those clinics was closed by Mr. Trump? And which clinics were funded by Mr. Trump’s donations? Answer those two questions and we will be closer to understanding Trump’s position.
One might do well to look at the original statement I quoted, I don’t believe someone mentioned or was addressing Mr. Donald Trump in it so to me, this is a non sequitur. I believe it was saying something along the lines of the Republicans.

On Feb 25, 2016 on another Trump thread, you thought his appearances on Howard Stern were irrelevant because they were so long ago. You responded to me.

So, is it relevant to go back decades for a positive news story, but not relevant to go back a few years to bring up negative stories)

🙂

I believe that University though has largely a positive grade with the Better Business Bureau.

The attacks on Trump are unprecedented. I think they have taken a toll on Trump’s campaign. Presidential PACs funded by special interests are pouring money into negative ads against Trump in the crucial states. We’ll see what happens.

Whether we believe it, negative ads, even when false, work in creating impressions and preventing people from voting for a candidate. This way of campaigning dictates that donor money and special interests almost always lead to an outcome the people have no control of.

It’s up to you if you think the positive story has no bearing. That’s your right. I simply wanted to post a story and how you react to it is your prerogative.

Sure this is unprecedented and they should be ashamed of the millions wasted in this fiasco which could go to good use in this country. I just seen he’s leading in Michigan and Miss for tommorrow, I didn’t see the others. Apparently Fla is going his way too. He took a hit with all this but this is a fight and he hasn’t spent a dime yet. Its impressive this following.

Ok. But you did think his actions from just a few years ago were irrelevant in an answer to me.

🙂
I didn’t think anything was irrelevant. Of course his divorces and dalliances were not good, but he seems to have a very good family now, is my point.

I always knew who Mr. Trump was but I don’t think I ever have even see the often mentioned TV show. I think a lot of us in Flyover country are not that aware of his celebrity status but more that he was just a businessman.

Oh, I’ve got to add on, a few times Rush Limbaugh has mentioned how he has played golf with Trump, just adding that to the conversation. He mentioned that Friday again I believe so it would be in his archives.

The argument only works if it is in Trumps favor. Kind of like abortion isn’t that big of an issue in the primary, but once the general election gets here if we really care about the unborn we should vote for Trump. 🤷 I haven’t quite figured out the logic yet.

It’s a shame these donors are pouring **hundreds of millions of dollars **into negative ads, but Trump, even being a billionaire, will find it hard to fight back the same way. It’s extremely hard when you are spending your own money.

I don’t think many people give him credit for spending his own money.

No you don’t have to care anything about what I posted. I’m not forcing a reaction out of you. Geesh!

Everybody knows the tabloid stories about trump. So here I come posting a nice little story of someone from trump’s life praising him, you guys just can’t take it!
