So Trump wins Mich, Miss and Hawaii.

I think this guy * wanted to say something but is being indirect here :D
I’ve pretty much given up on reading, much less participating on, this thread – it’s gets a little monotonous when post-after-post-after-post-after-post-after-post are either by or in-response-to queenofheartscv and GaryTaylor
Not sure what you saying, your still here so what did you give up on? Here’s your chance to be direct. 👍 Did you want to specifically discuss something or just make passing comments about people being indirect. I have heard a few comments daily about why you don’t know why your here? I don’t know either but if you have something to specifically say to me here’s your chance. I agree with queenofheartscv you do seem to be getting a little personal now, I can’t imagine why so I will invite you to speak directly to me. Hows that very adult like and direct? Or would you prefer something other?*

That’s quite an assessment. How about this instead? I study, write, and teach about the Holocaust for a living and am slightly alarmed when I start to hear rhetoric used in Nazi Germany being employed by modern politicians, no matter their party affiliation. As should we all, I’d hope.

(And to be clear, I’m not speaking here of the salute image from his rally but rather the policies for which Trump has advocated.)
That’s ok, gracepoole, I’m an armchair historian and see the same things you do. I also see that our nation has been in circumstances that make people susceptible to this for about a decade now. I’ll take some heat with you, people have only to open their eyes and see the parallels.

What are the ‘many things’ you imagine he can’t do?
  • enforce immigration law? 100% under Exec branch
  • work with congress to replace ACA? of course he can lead that effort, it’s ripe for fixes
  • tax reform? he has solid ideas and congress will come to a compromise solution
  • trade negotiation? Executive branch can move the needle
  • crack down on Fed waste, fraud and abuse? Only the Exec branch can lead here.
  • increase efficacy of Military spend? Only the Exec branch can lead here.
  • etc.
We shall see.

And he calls everybody else a liar!!! God Bless, Memaw
people on this board have said:

Most republicans are liars.

They have since clarified that they really meant most politicians are liars, same thing trump is saying.

To be more exact, trump never called Kasich a liar, or ben Carson, or many others. The only people he specifically said are liars are rubio and cruz.

These are people whose super PACs just in last week have spent close to 40 million on attack ads against him.

Oh I do see the parallels in fact for years now. Here I’ll show you.

nowtheendbegins.com/pages/obama/obama-and-hitler-similarities.htm

americasfreedomfighters.com/2015/05/09/13-mind-blowing-similarities-between-hitler-and-obama-video/

Course then of recent there was the Huckabee analogy to Obama and Hitler…
This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven. This is the most idiotic thing, this Iran deal. It should be rejected by both Democrats and Republicans in Congress and by the American people. I read the whole deal. We gave away the whole store. It’s got to be stopped.
Now a whole lot of democrats found that personally insulting including Clinton. So its OK if I find the comments personally insulting which btw I do? Or thats not OK? You could compare me to a Hitler follower and I can’t be insulted but these democrats are personally insulted and thats OK? Would you like to read Hillary and her comments on this?
Clinton; “really offended personally,”
And she and Obamas followers were not even compared to Hitlers followers, wow, why was she upset?

Then theres the Holocaust survivors who made the Obama comparison

mrconservative.com/2015/06/60504-holocaust-survivor-compares-obama-to-hitler-gives-americans-this-advice-to-survive-his-reign/

So I mean really what is there to discuss about this? There all crazy but someone here has a valid point. All Trumps followers are like Hitler followers just like all Obama followers are like Hitler followers. Now as I said I think the Obama case is a little more rooted in factual reality and with photos. I really don’t see it and yes think its all bs. Theres hundreds of these links with Obama, the connections have been made over and over for 8-years.

Thanks and PS again in case you missed my point, I don’t appreciate being compared to a Hitler follower and yes I find it insulting.

As someone who survived Adolph Hitler’s brutal Nazi regime in Europe, Werthmann knows a thing or two about what evil is. Today, she travels across the U.S. trying to warn America that there is a new Hitler in power, and his name is Obama.
In a recent speech, Werthmann drew a series of comparisons between Obama’s plans for America and Hitler’s regime. She pointed out that the Nazis’ rise to power was not that different than that of Obama. Werthmann also said that Obama and Hitler had similar views on gun confiscation and control, increases in government spending, astronomical tax rates and increased government regulation that forced small businesses to shut down.
After telling her audience that Hitler disarmed law-abiding citizens under his regime, she warned them to “keep your guns and buy more guns.” She added that Hitler’s health care incentives were very similar to those of Obamacare.
“After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone,” she said. She explained that because health care was free, doctors and hospitals became swamped with patients, and fell so far behind that surgeries often took years to be completed.
Like Obama, Hitler was a huge fan of abortion. Hitler was trying to create a race full of blonde haired, blue eyed children, and he encouraged women to abort any child who did not fit this criteria.
She added that when Hitler came to power, the number of benefits and welfare available to families increased dramatically. All of a sudden, everyone was entitled to free healthcare, food stamps and heavily subsidized college educations.
This sounds just like what happened when Obama came to power…
The Nazis quickly learned that they needed money to pay for all this “free” stuff, so they imposed taxes on up to 80% of their people’s income. While our taxes aren’t quite that high yet, we’re getting there…
Werthmann already saw this happen once, and she doesn’t want to see it happen again. Having survived Hitler, she wants to make sure that we as a country survive Obama as well.
Wow she makes a compelling case imho, but in truth I’m a “little” more interested in todays polls and the election on-going daily not the comparative speculation one thinks is rooted in actual history. Now, anyone is quite welcome to start another thread “specifically” on this which isn’t this thread, but I really don’t think its relevant and more than above is. 🤷 But I would go right to the above forums and start a thread and make your comparative history points if it consumes you and inspires you to do so. Positive many will participate. Thanks again, sorry to distract with much to do about nothing.

I tutor some international students at the local public schools. One of my students asked me, why do American students often say, Americans are stupid? I thought it was a great question. There are stupid people everywhere in the world, but many Americans are quick to slap the name stupid on themselves. You’ll never find, say, a Chinese saying that especially to foreign nationals.

Does our educational system teach people it’s better to dig deep into our psyche and find shadows of things imperfect than to have a healthy sense of pride in who we are? Many people think it’s okay to throw around the name “racist” because America did have a racist history. I’ve heard that called “white guilt.” Is that a verified phenomenon? Are we encouraged by our educational system and the media to always keep in mind that we could be subconsciously racist, stupid, bigoted, prejudiced?

If that is the case, one might argue there is too much education messing with our head. Americans are not more stupid than others. We are not more racist than others. In many cases we have been the most generous and have done a great deal of good in the world. Every nation has had unflattering episodes in their history, but it’s not healthy to let the shadows of the past haunt us in everything we do today.

Grace you started a racist insulting conversation by an equivalence to all Trumps followers to Hitler. So the insulting conversation you seem to ignore started with your own racist thinking.

My insults, its the truth of your own behavior here which somehow you thought was fair game associating all Trumps followers with a racist signal of alliance to racism. Absurd
Please identify the specific posts in which I made the assertions you claim I made.
A new day has dawned and you have not yet identified the specific posts in which I did as you asserted above. Either do so or kindly apologize for mischaracterizing my posts and motives.

It really doesn’t take much to see it – it certainly takes nothing to even entertain the possibility (except, of course, throwing off the blinkers and setting aside empty anger).

The London fog isn’t interfering with your clearly held opinion. It seems you really do not like Trump and won’t vote for him. Well, that’s one man’s opinion. Americans are moving the back room boys out of the back room - Trump seems to be our choice to get the job done. 😉

The wasted money on super PACs and the hold they have over their chosen candidate needs to become a thing of the past. Also rigging elections with delegates being persuaded. 40 million dollars - think about it! That back room better get cleaned out and fumigated!

I see you woke in a funny mood. There won’t be any apology coming. Are you remotely serious? :rotfl:
It’s actually the image of his followers holding up their right hands that’s creepiest of all.
Course your comments have no ending…
No, it’s creepy for me because large groups of people giving what visually looks like the Nazi salute is creepy.
I really think we should move on to the current days events.

An apology I should be asking that of you but I really expect to hear more racist comments and mental gymnastics. 👍

I find Obamas style no different than hundreds or racist back woods preachers I have heard over the years. The gift of gab, little education, little bible and a little inspiration blame it on the white man and false hope promised, no unity just divisive bad rap, bootstrapped to basically just as the Holocaust survivor stated above…his personal self serving “me me me” agenda. 🤷

Unselfish leaders is more to my liking but I love comparisons. I guess its another comparision day. 🤷

Increasing tariffs on Mexican goods is certainly one possible mechanism for funding the wall, but it isn’t necessarily the only one. Another way to get Mexico to pay for the wall would be a tax on the remittances illegal immigrants send home to Mexico, or wherever else they may have come from. I don’t think the tariff idea is inherently a bad one. Many US companies have moved manufacturing operations down to Mexico to take advantage of the lower labor costs and because of NAFTA (that “Great Sucking Sound” Ross Perot talked about back in the 1990s), are able to “import” them to the US with no tariffs. Ford, for example, makes the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ in Mexico, as well as the 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel engine for their heavy duty trucks. Putting a tariff on those goods may have the effect of increasing the costs in Mexico such that it makes sense to bring their manufacturing back to the US.
So you would prefer increased consumer prices for goods? Because that’s the only place tariffs lead. The company doesn’t pick up the tab, they just pass it on to us so they don’t hurt their profit margin.

You’ve publicly, willfully ignored and misrepresented my comments (anyone with basic reading comprehension skills can easily and quickly note that I’ve not likened “all of Trump’s followers to ‘Hitler’”). You’ve now refused to apologize for doing so. That’s disappointing as it doesn’t speak to Catholic charity to repeatedly belittle and besmirch a fellow Catholic. Know, though, that since I don’t normally engage with those who slander me, you’ll be chatting with yourself if you choose to address me from this point forward. Good Lent.

The real problem is the high skilled labor cost here. If I remember correctly manufacturing moved south because of tax breaks, unions, and then out of the country because of labor cost. Im sure some of this can be mitigated as Trump states but its also tax and the cost of skilled labor.

Further the idea of the skilled labor is building a superior product. If your not building a superior product with say a Computer than say China than this needs to be comsidered also. But there are products built here which call for top dollar due to our skilled labor which other companies haven’t been able to copy. For example Gibson and Fender instruments. One might argue for 1/5th of the price theirs is a decent product, but for sure not the same. Same thing with the military imho.

The heart of the economy is in small business which has been suffocated and in essence can’t grow into companies as suggested.

Sounds like he spent too much time in Jeremiah Wright’s church.

You’ve publicly, willfully
There’s nothing to discuss our conversation is too well understood and yes I never expected Catholic charity or an apology from you. In fact as I stated above I expected much of what you stated. Mental gymnastics. But I as a Christian I forgive you and should you choose to hold a grudge and be handcuffed by those feelings, my prayers are with you too. I understand where your coming from.

Thanks

I didn’t addrss the question to you and I don’t get the latter part of your post.

This is what’s really curious. People can’t even bring themselves to say trump is a good builder. When I merely said he’s a great builder, I had to be corrected and informed that he really didn’t build that much.

And yet politicians who have done nothing in real life are given all kinds of pass.

Trump has built many great buildings besides licensing his name. All of that is much more than what the piliticians can dream of achieving.
Trump isn’t a “great builder”.

The architects and construction companies are the builders. He’s just a financier.
