Trump University fraud case becomes campaign issue at GOP
debate

CNN

Donald Trump likes to talk a lot about winning, but it is one of his failed ventures that brought out daggers from his opponents in Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate. Florida Senator Marco Rubio took the first stab at trying to label Trump’s failed “Trump University” as a fake…

…Attorney General Eric Schneiderman told CNN’s “New Day” after filing suit in 2013. Schneiderman’s case argues that Trump and Michael Sexton, the former president of the program, engaged in fraudulent, illegal and deceptive conduct, and that although the program promised to offer courses taught by experts personally selected by Trump, the teachers were neither handpicked nor experts…

I believe the wheels just came off his campaign. This was way before he decided to run. But, then again, he said that even if he shot someone, he wouldn’t lose any voters…will see.

I still prefer someone who’s actually hired and managed people before,
POTUS has >4million employees

It won’t matter to the Trump supporters. As O’Reilly has said, those folks are thinking with emotion. That is no way to select a president.

How do you guys just grab a headline and determine trump is guilty? If it’s that simple, why has the law suit gone on for years? There may be something there, or there isn’t. Devil is in the details in cases like that.

The suit is ongoing and hasn’t been dismissed by the court due to lack of merit after more than two years after the suit was filed? That can’t be good news for Trump.

Nonetheless - innocent until proven guilty IMO.

Trump said he could have settled anytime but he wants to win instead. He doesn’t like to settle cases because that encourages more law suits. If people enroll in a school like trump university and then can’t reap satisfactory financial gain, they understandably get mad and want to sue in order to get some monetary payback. It doesn’t sound like a huge scandal.

I’d feel better about it personally if the judge threw the lawsuit out due to lack of merit. But he/she did not. Due to this fact, it’s fair game for voters to consider.

Trump had another law suit with an 80 year old lady who had bought a condo in chicago(?) and then the market tanked and she sued. The suit dragged on for 10 years because trump refused to settle. He got lots of bad press because it was an old lady! He ended up winning the suit eventually. Just saying.

Bringing up that lawsuit is a red herring. Just saying.

How generous of him. The old lady could not afford the expensive attorneys that Trump can. What a crock.

From what I have read, the ‘old lady’ wasn’t exactly poor and had the means to sue. Regardless, that suit is irrelevant to this story which may or may not have merit. That’s for the voters to decide.

Trump seems to be scandal proof for some odd reason.

Fraud is defined by the dictionary as ‘deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence, perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage.’ And if Trump is guilty of fraud this disqualifies him from politics? Seems to me fraud is the craft of politicians.

Bush the first said ‘no new taxes’ and yet there were. Bush the second said he would have a humble foreign policy and not get into the nation building that Republicans objected to when Clinton did it. And yet he had a bellicose and nation building foreign policy.

That’s the fatal flaw in democracy, sadly.

Trump “Has” to win at all costs. That"s why he has threatened several times to go Independent if he looses this nomination. He don’t care about the damage it would do to beating the Dems. He even said they would probably name the wall the "Trump Wall. He’s all EGO. God Bless, Memaw

The fact is you guys are all speculating he’s guilty. The underlying assumption is that he’s so rich so he can’t possibly be the innocent party is someone is suing him. Nevertheless, he hasn’t been proven guilty. Even when he wins a law suit as in the case of the old lady, you still say he’s the bad one.

You can’t criticize trump supporters for ignoring this case which hasn’t been concluded when you are condemning him no matter what.

When the New York State Attorney Generals Office files a complaint, it is pretty serious. When students pay a ‘Gold’ membership for mentoring and there are no mentors available, that is fraud. Besides it’s bad business practice for Trump to say that he doesn’t care if he spends all his profits from ‘Trump University’ on attorney fees so as to take the chance that he will win when he could settle for a whole lot less. All he does is sue, sue, sue. Four of his companies ended in bankruptcy leaving creditors and investors on the short end of the stick.
