Answer this if you can. This is a question of logic. I did not come up with the question but enjoyed trying to answer it.

PLEASE, if you have already seen this or been asked and know the correct answer do not post it yet. Let us give everyone a fair chance to try to answer it.

Also, please DO NOT Google it for the answer. If you want to, that is up to you, but do not post it. Have fun with this and try to answer it according to what you think is the right answer.

There can be multiple answers, so many of you may be right, but there is only one really logical answer that is the simplest.

Here is the question:

**There are two identical doors, each guarded by identical angels. The door to Heaven is guarded by an angel of God who, when asked a question about the door, will always tell the truth. The door to Hell is guarded by an angel of Satan who, when asked a question about the door, will always lie.

You may ask each angel the one identical question to determine which door is the door to Heaven.

What question would you ask? Remember: God will always tell the truth, Satan will always lie.**
Post your answers, I can help a little bit but I will not answer, or say anything until someone is close or has the answer. This is a good one to ask neighbors or family.

God bless.

To both angels: “What would the other angel say about his door?”

Does it have to be a question with a yes or no answer? If not, I would ask the angels, “What’s my name?”. Since the one guarding the door to Hell can’t tell the truth, the one who answers, “Your name is Kalt.” is quarding the door to Heaven.

But I wonder about the question. If the angels are identical, one can’t be good and the other bad. ???

do you mean the angels are identical looking, because after you define them, you negate the fact that they are identical.

if that is what you meant then kalt has the right idea. or what was the name of my band in college? how many fingers do i have? etc

i love these things. never quite sure if i’m mega over thinking it or if i’m being a complete dummy.

whoops… just saw kalt finished his post regarding the identical flaw… i promise i didn’t steal that! 😃

They seem to have the right idea. However I would ask do you believe Jesus christ is our savior, because satan cannot say yes to that without undermining his whole satanic underworld. Am I over analyzing this entirely way to much 🙂

You forgot the third atheist angel who stabs you when you ask a trick question.

Kalt already answered it.

Most of the time they will have identical answers too.
Example question: Is Jesus behind your door? Angel of God says Yes! He is telling the truth. Demon says Yes because he have to lie.

Is it hot behind your door? Angel of God No!, Demon says No!

So the right question should be things you already know the answer. Demon always lie.

actually I think the trick here is that you can only ask it questions about the door itself.

This reminds me of Labyrinth. You know, that crazy movie with David Bowie…LOL

I’m guessing the answer is the same as the movie. Ask the guards about the other door.

Islam teaches that angels cannot commit sins like lying and so I suppose this question is not applicable to Muslims.

Or perhaps since one of the guardian of the doors cannot tell the truth, then perhaps the identical question to ask both of them is → Is it hot in Hell?

What would I ask about the doors…hmmmm…man I have to think about that one. I really don’t know since one would tell the truth and the other would lie…so they’d both most likely answer the same.

Now truely this is something that is going on today…already. Many Religions have some of the same “Basic” Beliefs, yet a lot of differences…It’s kind of like the road to Heaven is Narrow…Makes one ponder all of this.

I know, I wouldn’t ask a question about the doors, I’d stand there and say the Our Father Prayer, for the Angel of God would join me in a Prayer to God, yet the Devil even if he looks like an Angel, can’t/won’t do anything to praise God. (after all the Devil wants people to Praise him.)

:extrahappy:

Ok that’s my answer and I’m sticking to it…🙂 (might be the wrong answer, but it’s all I could come up with.)

Exactomundo.

Did anyone ever see the Twighlight zone episode about the old country guy that goes out hunting with his dog, ends up drowning and doesn’t know he’s dead? He’s walking down the road and the devil urges him to come into hell, where he says the hunting is great but dogs aren’t allowed. The old man thinks about it for a while, not wanting to leave his dog, and walks down the road a bit…where he meets an angel who welcomes him and his dog into heaven, where the hunting is good and of course, dogs are allowed.

Fantastic episode, classic Twilight Zone.

“Is my name Splinker?”

In terms of logic, which question doesn’t matter if you ask one what the other will say.

God will say that the devil will give the incorrect answer; the devil will lie and say that God will give the wrong answer.

This question comes from Greek (?) myth, I think. And I think the first answer is the one the OP is looking for.

You would ask if the other angel is telling the truth. The angel that says no is lieing.
