Trying to choose a name!!

One order just flows better than the other, I think. Switch the order if you want.

I tried to change my name to a double first name when I changed my last name (to have first name + second name as first name, maiden name as middle, and dh’s last name as last) and I was told at the SSN office that I can only have 1 first name, but I can have 2 middle names, so that is how I have it. I am just curious how people with 2 first names do it, hyphenated?..have you been allowed to enter 2 first names? or simply 1 first name, 2 middle names, but then say the person has two first names?
 
Another thing, that probably doesn’t matter, but when I read Cora the first thing that came to mind was that perhaps you are a Downton Abbey fan and picked the name because of that (and then I read the explanation). That kind of turned me off to Cora, that people might associate it with Downton Abbey, even if you may have never watched the show 🙂 and there is no association with the show. Of course, I saw Downton Abbey one night that I had bad morning sickness, and so the thought of the show brings me feelings of queasiness… so that might also come into play :D.
 
Imagine growing up with such a lovey and powerful name as Theresa Rose:thumbsup:

The only problems with most of these is they are so unusual he’d be teased unmercifully on the playground. Sebastian is the least likely to bring on such abuse, but even that is pushing it. They might do well as middle names, though with a less odd name for a first name like say, Michael or Richard or Nicholas, etc.

Please join us in the 21st century. When was the last time you heard anybody object to a name being “different”? Half of the kids in the class have a name invented out of whole cloth.

I actually do have a 7-year-old son named Ignatius and a 5-year-old son named Bonaventure, and nobody under 40 has ever batted an eyelash at hearing their names.

I also know four Sebastians, a Cyprian, two Augustines, an Aquinas, a Cornelius, a Napoleon, and two Perpetuas, not to mention about ten different Old Testament names.
 
@aemcpa: Charlemagne? I know a family with Dominic, Charlemagne, and Bonaventure.

@Ophelia: all the probables sound nice, although I’d lean toward the Cora Louise end of the spectrum. Gianna? Immaculee’?
 
I vote for Cora Louise! That sounds beautiful together. However, if either family member is prone to pettiness and would complain about the order of the two names, just avoid the whole thing and go with Theresa Rose.

Try not to stress about it too much; chances are, once you take that first look at your daughter you’ll be able to tell if she “looks like a --” one name or the other. 🙂

I don’t think I’m living in another era, and I’m glad to hear these names have acceptance where you live. There are places, though where this is not the case. Not everyone is so urbane. 😉

But all of your possibilities are lovely, IMO. You could even give her 2 middle names like, “Theresa Corrine Louise X.”

They would be by the time I was done with their parents if they thought it fit to allow their children to mock the saints.
 
One more thought (lol, ok I am thinking about baby names now as well, so I have lots of thoughts on this 🙂 )… We did the names after the 2 grandmas, using both names (and we still call our daughter by both names) and it didn’t matter which name went first, never caused any issues. We do use both names with her, not just the first. We just went with what sounded better.
I do like using family names, so I do like your other two options (with reservations because of the Dowton Abbey thing I mentioned above).
 
I LOVE Cora Louise. I think it is a beautiful name and I love it when parents name kiddos after family members.

And I am sure there won’t be very many classmates with that name.
