For perfection, we cannot find it in the members of the Catholic Church, only by looking at the cross can we find that. Jesus’ mom was pretty perfect too. 🙂

Our church is full of sinners, and always will be. Thank goodness for the sacrament of reconcilliation. We can all be forgiven by our Father, even though some people may find it hard to forgive us.

Please discuss your situation with a priest. You havent said anything in this post that would necessarily bar you from coming into the Church.

You and yours will be in my prayers.

The last two posts are quite good and both point to the very real need for you to talk these things over with a good priest.
Your situation is complex but not at all unusual today - unfortunately,

Rest Assured that those in the Church (us included) will do all that we can to help you come home.

Peace
James

findingmyway74,

You have been on my mind. It is late, and I am about to go to bed, but I just wanted to reach out to you. My heart is with you. You have quite a cross to carry. It seems to me that you are pulling the load with much dignity. Just find the silver lining and become what God wants you to become. Don’t let the past define your future. ( I know that is easy to say and impossible to do.) God has some plans for you. Be ready.

It is very difficult to stay in Christ and out of sin. Choices are tough, we fail. What we have to strive for is to want, from the depth of our soul, to want to follow God’s Will for us, not our own, and always try to make our choices to put God’s Will first. When we fail, we can’t get selfish or harden our hearts. We have to be humble, open, loving, and willing to own our mistakes. By loving God, trying to live His Will, doing as Jesus commanded, loving others in all ways, and when we fail, be truly sorry, cleanse by confessing, learn from our mistakes and keep on trying to put God’s Will first.

I will probably think of more to write later, but I just wanted you to know that you are a very special creation by God. You are special and perfect just the way you are. You are worthy. You are everything God wants you to be right now. Now, the tough part is becoming the woman that God wants you to be. Are you ready?

You are in my prayers.

Good day to you finding,

All too often we see our fellow human beings having to live in dysfuntional families. I was born into one, but thankfully I was not raised in one. I too had to make a conscious decision not to judge my birthmother, or to hold animosity for things that had happened.

I have found that while we cannot always forget the hurt that others have caused us, we can free ourselves of the hold on us that comes from resentment and bitterness.

A mark of a Catholic and a Christian comes with the desire to forgive those who harm us. This is not to condone or mitigate what they have done, but simply to do as Jesus did… He asked His Father to forgive those who tortured and executed Him.

You will be in my prayers.

Ivan
