Hi Tim,

I am sorry your insurance company denied your request. Can you appeal it? Regardless, you will be in my prayers. Do you have to have any more chemo in the interim or is it okay to wait until next month?

My scan is this coming Tuesday 2/15/11. The insurance company denied my request for a Pet Scan and allowed only a Catscan. This means we’ll see little black dots on my liver, but we won’t know if they are dead or not!

I didn’t yell and fight (this time) but I will ask again in a month to be allowed to have a Petscan because that scan makes living cancer light up…I mean it would be nice to know if the cancer is dead or not!

On a related note - this week is a year ago since this all began and I came to this forum to ask for help. Thank you! I was re-reading some of the posts from that first week - how shocked and scary it was to hear bad news followed by worse then followed by even worse. I went from thinking I had hemorrhoids, to being told I had a year to live in less than 10 days, with a couple steps in between. Well, it’s a year this week and I’m not dead! A different doctor said a 1 1/2 to 2 years - I think I can outlast him also!

My cancer was stage III Rectal cancer and after 13 gruelling months they think that it’s overr. I will have another blood test in about 2 weeks. I’m glad that you still have a lot of courage and hope and you remain in my prayers.

Thanks Joe! I’m sure that your ordeal has changed you - probably for the better. I’ll do the scan tomorrow, blood tests Friday and see my doc next Tuesday. Hoping to hear some encouragement on my situation.

We’ll surviving a year with stage 4 Anal Cancer with my liver covered is pretty good. But YOU praying for a stranger across the ocean for over 365 days - that seems like a miracle!
