An aide stabbed the prelate to death. A pastor closely involved in ecumenical work and in the dialogue with Islam, he was getting ready to travel to Cyprus to meet the Pope. Mehmet Celalettin Lekesiz, the governor for the province of Hatay, said police immediately caught the suspected killer. He said the man, identified only as Murat A., was Padovese’s driver for the last four and a half years and was mentally unstable.

It seems odd to me that the bishops driver for four years decided to kill the bishop. Seems so sudden.
 
Turkey is not to be trusted. Turkey marks itself as “progressive secular,” but its actions say otherwise. Many Catholic and Orthodox priests have been murdered there by the hands of Muslims because they are Christians. Turkey is my list of non-to-go countries.
