The Turkish mufti said that the basis for inter-faith dialogue should be the fact that “we respect the beliefs, values, and character of others.” He declined to say that he would be willing to visit a Christian church. He said: “It is not right for an imam to have to put on a cross and pray before the Virgin Mary, or priests to pray in mosques.”
I don’t see any reason to condemn Muslims for this statement – look at how many Catholics attacked the Pope for praying in a mosque!!

Let us cleanse our fingers before pointing at someone else’s spots.

Still, it was kind of rude for the mufti to claim that the Pope’s actions weren’t right. And, why did he add “put on a cross and pray before the Virgin Mary?” That’s not the equivalent of what the Pope did.

The Christian West must fight harder to defeat Islam. It must immediately STOP allowing Islamic immigration. 👍

To tell the truth, I don’t think there was anything wrong with what the mufti said. You can’t expect a muslim to worship in a Catholic church and you can’t expect a Catholic to worship in a mosque.

Praying is a little different than worshiping. I think praying to God, while you happen to be in a mosque or praying to Allah while you happen to be in a cathedral is not scandalous.

Oh, btw…I’m glad you are telling the truth, rather than lying. 😉

Just a guess but i bet that self sacrifice is not a huge part of the islamic faith.
Depends. The Koran calls for giving alms to the poor even more than the Bible does. And fasting is part of their beliefs.

Of course, when it comes to the individual Moslem or Christian, one can only guess as to how many follow their faith’s exhortations to pray, fast, and give alms.

True, one of the few Muslims I know, though it has been years since he went to a mosque and his kids are being raised Catholic by his wife, is a doctor and he treats patients that he knows will never be able to pay him and just quietly writes off their bills.
