Unfortunately I am not at all surprised. Like I said, I’ve got a sister like your wife. Always has to be the center of the universe and it’s everyone’s job to make sure she can do as she pleases. You are in my prayers. Tomorrow is Our Lady of Fatima’s feast day. Hoping for good news coming your way. You deserve a break.

I will pray hard to our lady for assistance in all these things.

Throughout all these trials, my love for her is still strong.

From bad to worse…

Today I found out I may have cancer. Preliminary results suggest yes, but I won’t know until next week for certain. If not cancer then another disease that destroys the kidneys regardless.

I told my wife, I had no choice since she saw me go to the doctor. She asked the details, gave me a hug and said, “I’ll be here as much as I can, but if it is a long and drawn out thing I will need you to go stay at your parent’s home or let me go stay with friends sometimes.”

I said, this disease may kill me. She said, I know, and I hope not, but if it does you have insurance with the KofC right? How much?

I was there for this woman through so many things, including illnesses that lingered for months, a broken leg that made me have to wait on her for weeks, and a thyroid cancer scare.
I’m not going to lie, when I read those bolded parts, it occurred to me that this whole thread had to be some elaborate troll on your part. I find it so hard to believe that a wife could say that to her husband in those circumstances.

But I’ve read the whole thread, and since the rest seems legit, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. If what you’ve told us is deed is all true, then I’m deeply sorry for your plight and I will pray for you.

You just said what everyone is thinking.
But his posting history seems clear.
It’s just really sad.

I am no troll, I am a catholic man who’s world turned upside down over a very short period of time.

I am in as much shock as everyone else is that a wife could say such to a husband. Trust me.

Think me a troll if you must to make yourselves feel better, but I promise you I am not. This situation is as real as I present. I am no liar, I am not some hack on the internet seeking attention. I am a catholic, who thought this was a place for catholics to come and share.

I came for support and now I am called names.

Not that anyone will believe it now, since real suffering is apparently trolling. But I got my results today. I** had more blood work done that I won’t have results for until Monday, but the first round I had came in today.**
I have polycythemia vera, a blood disease. I have kidney damage, and I am looking at a regimen of blood letting soon. It is a disease that does kill, but can be managed and put into remission. I will be going back on Monday to see my exact game plan

I told my wife the details, and her reaction was that of a teenager. To hide in the spare bedroom and blast loud music. I asked for her support, and she said, “You are making me anxious and upset with all this new drama, I was finally feeling better and like I would probably stay in our marriage, but now I don’t know. I want to be there for you, but I also need to know this disease won’t stop me from experiencing the freedoms I need.” I haven’t spoken to her since. I don’t plan to see her at all until therapy.

Honey, I’m so sorry. Maybe your wife will be nice to you sometime, but now you know that you cannot count on her for anything. Reach out to God and share your pain with him. Reach out to your friends and family. Don’t stay isolated.

Honey? That just struck me as odd.

Has cuckolding or domination/humiliation ever been discussed in your relationship? Some of this seems to play into that type of relationship.

I do hope that you find help physically and mentally. Perhaps posting all of the drama on here is not the best idea right now for you.

Agree 100%.

Get as much support as possible.

Thanks for the support. I am sorry to be posting as I am, but I was using this as a place to vent my emotions and get a little support. I have a few close friends, but was afraid to confide in them until the last couple of days, I did not want to involve my mother, as she is VERY pro divorce in all cases.

I agree it is maybe time for me to stop posting here.

I may give updates on the blood disease from time to time, just to have people pray for me.

Please pray for me and my wife. Pray that we make it though this, and I am able to get her the help she may need along with myself.

Good luck to you all, and thank you for listening.

I’m from the Deep South and I often use this word as well. I’m sure I’ve even done it on this forum. 😃
Well, I am not sure geography is relevant but just don’t do it to me. I don’t take kindly to pet names on the internet with people I don’t know. Southern drawl or not, I just cannot imagine calling someone that I did not know well. Though I am sure you mean it to convey sympathy for the OP, it is odd and a tad uncomfortable when a poster is complaining about his wife and marriage trouble to actually type out the word “honey” I bet the OP did not mind and perhaps is even seeking that kind of response, but just be mindful, there are people like myself who would bristle at that. The OP has a username or you can actually abbreviate OP, I do understand and Have been tempted on very heartfelt or emotional posts to use some type of word that conveys my sympathy, but the way you type and speak are different.

Perhaps you agree it was not the best choice…?🤷

I’ll ask my husband if he thinks it was weird. Yes, it was purely meant as an expression of sympathy for a lousy situation. In any case, don’t worry, darling, I won’t ever use that epithet with regard to you!

I was serious. I don’t appreciate that. An apology would be nice. Or should I assume that “southern” grace and charm do not apply here? Has it been replaced with “northern” sarcasm and flippantry?

Well, I will concede that I was deliberately snarking at you–hoping that you would take it in the light spirit in which it was meant, but realizing that it might provoke you to anger. Not very Christlike, to be sure, and so I do apologize.

As far as “honey” goes, I was serious about asking my husband; I trust his judgment, and I also don’t want to post something that makes him uncomfortable. But although your questioning my choice of words was thought-provoking and therefore of some value, I don’t necessarily agree with your assessment.

OP: Sorry for the temporary hijacking of your thread. I trust it will soon be finished.
