Turned down for confession

1st off, you did not see the expression on his face or hear the change in tone of his voice when he made eye contact with me. So you cannot simply assume he was doing his “reasonable best”.
You didn’t mention the change in tone in your original post. If you correctly read the situation and priest’s tone and this really was personal, I can understand your anger. I will pray for the priest and for you, to be able to forgive.

They’re not going now.

Two pastors ago, he cancelled scheduled Confession on Saturdays, because he was sick of sitting in the confessional week after week with no penetants.
Sorry but I’m not seeing that when I go. Most churches I visit have Confession on Saturday, a few have it on Sunday during the Mass, there is almost always a line, and the lines can get quite long especially on First Saturday.

The only places where there isn’t a line are the ones that have Confessions on a weekday afternoon, for example there is one cathedral that does them Friday at Noon and another church I found that does them Thursday at 5 pm and the church is located in a rather bad area. Even at those places I was not the only one going - there were one or two other people.

Maybe it’s different wherever you live, but around here, people go to confession.
This pretty much describes the situation here. People go to Confession. I’ve seen lines 30-40 people deep for a scheduled, non-Lenten , Thursday night Confession time. I can’t remember a time when I haven’t seen at least 2 or 3 people in line., usually many more. Even at my parish, which has fewer than 20 families, there are always a few people waiting. I think it must be regional.

Catholics confess in the Sacrament of Reconcilliation. Not directly and as stand alone to God

spoke directly with the priest, today.

All is well.

That’s all I have to say on the subject.

And out of 85 replies, only one even attempted to show empathy and only one quoted the pope admonishing priests to never turn down confession.

Is this what I can expect from my fellow Catholics?
Dude, it seems pretty clear your expectations of everybody are sky-high. You expected the priest to do exactly what you wanted and now you expect everybody on this thread to validate your feelings.
You might want to come down to earth and have a little patience and humility with your fellow man, including priests.

As for what Pope Francis said, although I agree with him in principle, from a practical standpoint he had better figure out a way of cloning priests or otherwise recruiting many thousands more of them if he wants them to be constantly available for confessions on top of all their other duties.

You know, something might have come up to cause the priest to closeup shop 3 minutes early.

Your watches may have been wrong- either his or yours.

Just go again, be early, be first in line.

How do you know the situation will repeat itself?

Why are you angry. Things happen mate. Pray for everyone in line and the Priest

Dude, your second sentence in the first paragraph of your previous post was so far off the mark, I can’t take you seriously enough to answer that question.
I’m sorry, but I really think you have some issues both with anger and with basic social interaction.

I will pray for you. God bless.

Because a penitent was refused confession with time still on the clock.

I’d be just as angry if it was yourself that was turned away.
First if I am in line and time runs out, I suck it up and go another day.

My Priests are there a bit like doctors, triage their time. Sick and dying first, Mass second . Etc.

Its not a footy game mate. We don’t say oh 3 minutes on the clock , you get a free kick.

The trouble is some people see the whole Sacrament church life much like they would in paying for a secular service. Then they crack it if the service they get isn’t what they expect.

Consider this. God might be at work here giving you a wake up call on your anger. And whether your need for Reconcilliation is greater then a church full of lunchtime workers attending mass.

Or your need greater then a sick call. Or the priest really needing to go to the toilet.

Did you attend the mass

Time still on the clock tells me you see it perhaps as a convenient service paid and bought and immediately entitled too.

Your anger reminds me of that guy losing it at an airline check in counter because he felt he was entitled to an upgrade.

What do you mean you didn’t attend mass out of respect to others.

We attend mass to worship God

Seriously mate if your anger was so great , you could not worship God, for fear of expressing your anger in Mass then

You have a few anger management issues
