I admit, I am now terribly confused. I think I’ll have to start keeping a chart or something…

Lostpedia is quite helpful (and they have lots of charts! ;)). I had to go check it because Horace Goodspeed looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t quite place him.

They also have a timeline. According to the timeline, Ben and his dad arrive at the island around 1976/77. Which means he may arrive shortly as they are currently stuck in 1977.

It also says that Ben gased the Dharma Initiative at 4pm, December 19, 1992. Now how on earth do we know the precise time and date that this took place? There have to be people out there who watch each Lost episode frame-by-frame or something.

Why did the Others need the body of the dead dude? Is it 'cause they’re able to reanimate dead bodies or something, like Horace (when Locke sees him the first time)?

The way I saw it is that the other Others would need to see for themselves that there was some sort of retribution for their fallen comrades. But your explanation makes sense in terms of everything going on in that show. 😛

Remember when they also needed to have the dead body of Locke’s dad? Now I’m wondering if there were similar reasons behind both of these requests that would sync up with your suggestion…

I don’t see why they would need a dead body solely for retribution. Isn’t the fact that the dude’s dead enough? I read someone speculating that they might also use the bodies to find out information (like how Miles can talk to the dead).

I guess I was thinking that the Others might want to see for themselves (doubting Thomases that they are) that he was truly dead, but I think you’re probably right that there’s more to it than that.

That’s an interesting thought regarding Miles. Perhaps the Others have one among them who can do what Miles does and can extract intelligence from dead people.

I thought tonight’s episodes was one of the best ever.
I agree! After last week, I was getting really worried. I did not like the scene with Ben killing Locke, and I disliked it even more that people (not here, but elsewhere) were saying that Ben was somehow doing it for the greater good; it had to be done, etc. Murder is wrong, no matter what. Plus the whole regular-human-resurrecting thing was disturbing.

However, this week where Sawyer was shown basically as a man transformed from selfish grouchiness to a happy man working for the good of his family and community really gave me hope that the series might not end up disappointing me in the end. I am intrigued by the Dharma Initiative mystery, and the story of the formerly dark character Sawyer becoming a hero is poetic and believable.

There’s speculation that the Others are actually dead souls inhabiting dead bodies, which is why the fences had no effect on them and why Alpert doesn’t need security around him. Someone suggested that the two guys who killed Amy’s husband looked like pirates (from the Black Rock). There seems to be an Egyptian thing going on with the statues, oynx and Richard Alpert’s eyeliner, LOL.

I just got to watch it tonight online, I know bad me! 😉 But I really enjoyed it! I’m so happy for Sawyer and Juliet!

I also just youtubed the preview for the next show and I’m like  Everything is so confusing now!

Thanks - I’ll check that out.

I also read that Ben had to kill Locke and that it wasn’t bad that he did it. As in, the Others don’t see the killing as bad because they believe in reincarnation and when they come back they will be someone “better.”

This blog has some interesting theories.

I think Ben and his dad will be arriving soon. This certainly answers one question from a previous season.

Remember when Ben was acting all googly eyed over Juliet? Remember how the therapist told Juliet that Ben likes her so much because she looks “just like ‘her’”? Remember toward the end of that episode, Ben tells Juliet she is his?

When Ben arrives as a child, apparently Juliet is already there. Of course she looks “just like her”. She is “her”.

There are likely going to be some very interesting scenes between Juliet and young Ben.

Of course! :newidea: Good observation!

So we waited more than half a year for this new season and now they have a break! What gives!!
At least it’s not as bad as the writer’s strike last season. That stopped the show for a good 5 or so weeks.

Is this their mid-season “break”? I remember when Lost viewers were up in arms over the 3rd (I think) season’s rabid stint of repeats and long breaks between new episodes that they promised nothing butnew episodes, one right after another, with 1 break halfway through.

Yes, I agree, 2 weeks between episodes with the way the show is going can lead to confusion.

The “Time Wheel” is a bit weird, but I’m still a huge fan of the show. I’m curious (among other things as well) about the 4 toed statue that we saw the back of during one of the island flashes.

tonights show was pretty good 🙂 It was cute to see baby ethan!
I didn’t know he wasn’t an other to begin with

I wonder how Sun is getting back to Jin.
