I wonder how Sun is getting back to Jin.

I loved the show. We were laughing a lot, especially at the irony of Jack ending up being a powerless janitor and James calling the shots. I liked the baby Ethan part too. I don’t understand why Sun got separated from the rest. It seems so unfair. Especially since Sun and Jin are one of the few actually married couples on the show (not just fooling around).

That was a powerful scene when Christian was showing Sun the Dharma recruits photo from 1977. I wonder why the Flight 815 people never saw that photo when they were living in the yellow house village?

I’m thinking that Sun, Ben, and Frank are separated from the rest because of their association with Widmore. Sun was working with him, Frank worked for him at one point and Ben has a hostile relationship with him. As far as I can tell currently, he’s the common factor.

I wonder how Sun is getting back to Jin.

I am not sure if the baby Ethan is the same Ethan that we already know. Why did Ethan go by “Ethan Rom” instead of “Ethan Goodspeed”? Also, if Juliet had not been there to help deliver the baby, then the baby would not even exist. Right?

Similarly, if Sawyer had not helped Amy three years prior when she was being attacked by the hostiles, then she would not exist now and the Ethan that we know would not have existed.

It’s a little bit weird. But perhaps the universe has a way of course correcting? And if Ethan (grown Ethan that we know) was meant to exist, then he would have existed no matter what.

Does that make sense?

I think Ben can’t be there, because he’s already there as a child. Same reason, in my opinion, the others didn’t travel with Locke because they were already on the island in the past.

I’m not sure about Ethan not being baby Ethan. Juliet had a look of on her face. Daniel had said, before he died, that they couldn’t change the past. So what if they really aren’t changing anything, just took the place of the people who would have saved Amy/deliver the baby???

Just a theory, I don’t read a lot online about it.

Apparently on this show, what ever happened in the past always already happened in the past. Like the movie 12 Monkeys instead of Back to the Future,

Sawyer was always the one who saved Amy. Juliet was always the one to deliver Ethan. Future sawyer always had eavesdropped on the birth of Aaron, etc.

The interchange between Jack & Sawyer was PRICELESS! I LOVED it! It was nice to see Jack get handed his hinder by Sawyer.

Ethan was a bit freaky. Asks another question how he gets to be an ‘other’.

That '77 photo raises a bunch of questions along w/ young Ben seeing Sayid. How much does Ben know. It’ll be interesting to watch it all over again and see the little hints that have been thrown in.

I felt somewhat sad though for everyone when Jack/Kate/Hurley/Sayid came back. They had a good thing going and it seemed like they were settled in their life and happy. Now this just screws everything back up.

Yes, after last night’s episode, it is hard to see why the Oceanic Six “had to come back”. They seem to just be causing chaos and destruction. I am assuming that Ben isn’t actually dead (if Faraday’s assertions are true). In that case, it may be Sayid’s attempts to “fix” everything that actually end up causing the Purge. Of course, if Ben is actually dead, then an alternate timeline will be introduced.

Yes, after last night’s episode, it is hard to see why the Oceanic Six “had to come back”. They seem to just be causing chaos and destruction. I am assuming that Ben isn’t actually dead (if Faraday’s assertions are true). In that case, it may be Sayid’s attempts to “fix” everything that actually end up causing the Purge. Of course, if Ben is actually dead, then an alternate timeline will be introduced.

My assumption is that time paradox is not part of the LOST universe. In other words, we are seeing things happen as they actually happened - but it’s all temporally convoluted due to the instability of time on the island.

For me, Sayid’s shot at Ben explains a lot about Ben’s motivations for trying to destroy Sayid’s life by turning him into an assassin. But ironically, turning Sayid into an assassin leads to Sayid taking that shot at Ben.

As for whether or not Ben is dead… If my assumption is correct (i.e. that we are not changing anything but that our characters are actually part of what happened in 1977), then clearly Ben is not dead. Or at least not so dead that the island can’t fix it.

I’m figuring that this will be an opportunity for Richard to solidify Ben’s allegiance when the hostiles save Ben. Or when the hostiles see the island save Ben.

That was a crazy part. At first I was like “Sayid shot a kid! Ben’s dead. But wait, Faraday said they can’t change anything. Oh yeah, just cuz one dies on the island doesn’t mean they’re dead forever” {thinking specifically about cyclops & Locke getting shot}

Last night was kind of a sleeper episode for me.

Has anyone seen the Lost Untangleds? I first stumbled upon them last week and just saw last weeks. It’s totally lame but when they got to Sayid I was laughing my hinder off. You have to check out 5-09.

I thought last night was a GREAT episode!

the room BENEATH the room BENEATH the temple w/ Ben & the smoke monster - interesting. All those hieroglyphics. An Alex getting in his face - priceless. We’ll see what it does to him. He’s got to know now that he’s hanging on by a thread.

And what’s up w/ the airplane people? My boss thinks they must’ve been to the island before. And ya gotta wonder since how would they know about the statue? And what are they packing up in that cargo container?

I loved Locke - let’s go right now Ben.

I’m happy “the monster” didn’t kill Ben. Also that Ben now knows that he is no longer in charge, but MUST follow Locke and do as he says!

The airplane crew is very confusing to me as well. It’s like they just “threw” these extra characters into the mix! Come on people, we don’t have enough episodes/seasons left to get to know more characters!

In the opening sequence my wife called that Widmore was Daniel’s dad. Kudos to her!

It’s funny, last night wasn’t the greatest episode, but boy did everything change.

How brutal for both Widmore & Eloise to send Daniel back to the island when they both know he’s going to die.

Now, what if Daniel’s right? They can change the future? How will that play out?

Oh, and I was so sad for Juliet when Sawyer called Kate freckles.

Things are getting interesting.

And last week, how funny was Hurley riding Miles about telling Dr. Chang he’s his son? AND writing The Empire Strikes Back for Lucas!

Oh HERE’S the LOST thread! I was hoping to find one soon enough!

Now, what if Daniel’s right? They can change the future? How will that play out?

I don’t know. It’s weird but they might not be able to actually “change” anything at all. Practically very decision the characters have made on their own thus far has been forseen.

i.e. Jack freely chose not to operate on Ben, which ultimately resulted in Ben Linus becoming…well…Ben Linus.

UNLESS…unless…Desmond didn’t finally have his “memory” about needing to meet Eloise until we saw it actually take place. Why did it take so long for Des to remember? Because that memory did not exist until the moment Daniel put it there and altered the future. So far that’s the only bit of evidence I can think of that may support a “future can be changed” theory.

Ugh I just gave myself a headache.

But that’s going to make some pretty nutty paradoxes. And I think the writers mentioned they want to keep the time-travel aspect somewhat simple.

Going back a little further, I was very impressed with Ben’s standing up to Widmore regarding Alex and well. It’s moments like those where one starts to question if he’s that bad of a guy. Maybe even…noble.

Why change the future if it means you erase your memories or kill yourself or do something bad? I mean of all people, you would think Kate would be strongly against it. She is going straight to jail if that plane never crashed.

Dumb question here (which I was thinking about as I fell asleep last night INSTEAD of praying AARGH)

If Flight 815 never happened, then the circumstances that led them to Ajirwa Flight 315 never happened–therefore, they would not make it back to the island to detonate the hydrogen bomb. Therefore, Miles is exactly correct and they are causing what they are trying to prevent.
