Hello everyone. We were about to sign up for Netflix because the movie theaters are shut down. However, someone told us that Netflix supports abortion.

Does anyone know of a movie and TV service like Netflix that does not support abortion?
Why can’t we have news and entertainment media that does not support all this crap?
I wish a billionaire conservative would start a conservative news and entertainment network.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Remote material is not sinful. My thoughts are not to care about it. We share the earth with sinners, I hope no one holds me to this standard of supporting me or not. I got Netflix recently too

You can’t live in an echo chamber. Exposing yourself to alternative views is actually a good thing, if you’re secure in your beliefs.

I understand what you want to do, and why. But at the same time, do you not think that the movies you see in theaters supports this as well? You have no idea what many of the services and goods you use on a daily basis support. We cannot spend all of our time patrolling and researching what companies do with their money. There is no sin in buying their products or services. What they use the money for, if sinful, is on them, not you.

There is certainly programming on Netflix or Hulu that I don’t care for. So I just don’t watch it. Same as I would not watch it on PBS, or network tv. But I have watched a lot of good programs on Netflix.

FORMED.ORG is a wonderful, Catholic service with plenty of programming to enjoy. A local parish may provide you with a free signup code.

The Chosen is a fantastic new TV series on VidAngel about the life of Christ. They are soliciting donations to have the rest of it made. Our pastor has recommended it to all the faithful.

PureFlix is a Protestant video-on-demand service with some, IMHO, bad films. YMMV.

True. It is difficult to know what is pure and what is not. Seems like conservatives could create our own networks for news and entertainment. Why do we have to rely on liberals? All this technology and we can’t come up with something.

What proof did they offer?
I think someone I know saw it listed on a website that someone researched about businesses that support abortion. I have seen at least two websites that list them. It is is almost impossible to prove unless you follow the money trail.

I heard “Formed” is very good. I will have to look into that.

From the emails I’m getting from its parent company, the Augustine Institute, it could really use the support right now. It’s struggling badly financially as a result of the pandemic.

Netflix does indeed peddle a lot of trash… your gut is correct.

Heres an alternative…

https://formed.org/

There are many Parishes through which you can actually get it for free.

I’m not sure about “billionaire” but wealthy conservatives do have their own networks. Glen Beck’s “The Blaze” TV network is one I am familiar with. I think Mark Levin has his own network as well. Owen Benjamin, a conservative comedian, has something on an alternate platform to YouTube. Their content is largely political and news related.

I understand the desire for a conservative purely entertainment platform though, but if it exists I haven’t found it. And it’s why my interests now are only catholic media and political/news type media. I can’t get past the push for topics like abortion, gender issues, climate change apocalypse, on and on. I just can’t enjoy entertainment that advocates for things I do not support. Sadly, to me, even county music is ruined. If I want to indulge in that I need to go music made at least 15 years ago.

Is it with the same lackluster discernment that you evaluate officials in an election? How you vote with your spending has an arguably greater impact than how you vote at the ballot.

Just participating in society is bound to cause us to “support” some evil thing. Jesus had no scruples about it, neither does the church with this distant supporting. What about giving ad revenue to sites that use some of it to pay a server host who also services porn, etc? It is beyond us

Umm, how is one “bound” to support Netflix?
Your point is taken but make no mistake, it’s not an all or nothing kind of deal.

I mean bound in the other sejse, like inevitable result. No one has to pay for Netflix, Hulu, etc. There is no sin if you do, none of this blue screen binge watching is healthy, and we would probably be holier not doing it, but still.
