My wife and I are looking for good tv shows to watch. We typically prefer something with several seasons. The most recent we watched together is Law and Order: SVU. I liked that there are devout Catholics in the show. Any suggestions?

It’s not Catholic, but I’ve been enjoying Monk on Amazon Prime. It’s about a detective with OCD solving murders in San Francisco. There are definite comedic elements along with the police work.

Hello.

Longmire has some good elements. It’s on Netflix and has 6 seasons.

We enjoyed the Blue Bloods series. Haven’t watched Law an Order but would probably place it in a similar category.

Could folks say something about where to find different shows. It would be helpful to know where to look. A word or two about what the show is about or why you like it would also be nice. Thanks for considering it.

I enjoyed the NBC show Parenthood, even when the characters annoyed me. I believe it is on Netflix, or it was. It followed a family in California and the intertwining of their adult children and their lives. The series finale was one of the best I have ever seen.

I also am enjoying This is Us, also on NBC, but they are only into season 2. Still, worth watching all the episodes on demand, there are many if you feel like binge watching one weekend. 😊 This show is also about a family and flashes back between the present and the past. Very interesting characters.

Get DVD’s from the Library and consult Wikipedia. That’s what I do 😏

My wife and I are currently catching up with Dr. Who on Amazon Prime.

If you’re an anime fan, My Hero Academia is pretty awesome, and I’ve heard The Ancient Magus Bride is also very good (both on Crunchyroll). Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is also superb whether you’re an anime fan or not. It’s hard to explain why it’s so good, it just is. It’s on Netflix. (So is the original, just Fullmetal Alchemist. It’s good, but Brotherhood is a million times better.)

I’ll always recommend Twilight Zone to anyone willing to watch it. It remains probably the best show ever to air on television, and was decades ahead of its time. I watch episodes of it and they relate directly to things we’re dealing with today. (Especially The Obsolete Man…) If you like Twilight Zone-esque stories, Night Gallery on Hulu is also by Rod Serling. It focuses more on Horror, but but it’s still well worth watching. Black Mirror is sort of a modern technological TZ. It’s on Netflix, though I have trouble recommending it. The episodes are frequently unpleasant, and I can only watch one or two at a time, but it’s still generally well done.

Sherlock on Netflix is excellent. It plays fast and loose with some of Doyle’s stories, but as a life-long fan of Holmes, I thoroughly enjoyed the series.

Umm… Burn Notice is pretty good (Netflix), Ash Vs. Evil dead is hilarious if you enjoy that type of humor. (Though, lots of occult stuff in it, so I can’t honestly say I recommend it… if you are a fan of the original movie you’ll probably enjoy it.) It’s also on Netflix. Arrow’s first two seasons are excellent, I haven’t watched much beyond that yet.

If you like crime procedurals, NCIS’s early seasons are superb.

Stranger Things is pure awesomeness… (Netlfix)

Limitless only has one season, it was tragically not renewed despite being the best new show it’s year. It’s got great humor, engaging characters, and each episode is themed in a unique and interesting way… seriously… why did it get cancelled x_X

I hope there’s something in here you like. My wife and I enjoy watching a show with dinner, and i put shows on as background noise at work, so I have a pretty extensive watch list XD.

I’m starting Gunpowder today…It’s about the Catholic persecution and martyrs during the Protestant Reformation and how Guy Fawkes came to be. I’ll tell you how it goes.

I’ve heard it’s okay, although there is a lot of sex (so prepare to be scolded by some of the more…rigorous.)

Monk is a great show for the entire family. One of my favorites.

Homicide: Life on the Street. It’s basically a precursor to The Wire. I love it; quite a few Catholic characters in it, too.

I really enjoyed ‘Search Party’ recently. Found it a very intelligent and well-written and most importantly, hilarious examination of Millennial aimlessness and self-absorption - which doesn’t sound particularly funny, or even original, but it is both.

I mean, don’t take my word for it. That’s just what I’ve heard. Besides, you’re a big girl. Don’t be scared off by some gratuitous butt shots 😛

lol as long as it’s not as bad as what HBO usually puts out there

I just started it like 18 minutes ago and I’m already on the verge of tears. So sad 😦
