In an April 26 audience with the prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Pope Francis approved the publication of decrees that advance a dozen sainthood causes…

Of note are the advancements of the causes of two groups of martyrs - one under a Communist regime and one in the Spanish Civil War. A sign of the times, perhaps? 🙂
 
No disrespect intended, but I thought one of the goals of the canonization process was the edification of the faithful, giving life examples to follow. This list, and similar lists, have been top-heavy with founders of religious orders or communities. I would sure like to see more of what I think of “saints with dirty hands.”

To play Devil’s advocate (see what I did there? :D) this particular list has something like 44 martyrs on it. Can’t get much more “dirty handed” than that.

From the time of Christ, the Church has always had time for both Mary and Martha. 🙂
