“twin” letters of Colossians and Ephesians
The Holy Father noted how this title is given to Christ in two senses: He is head of the Church and he is head of the cosmos.
Why would Colossians and Ephesians be twins?
When a person thinks of twins, you think of the egg dividing.
I remember when we were kids and we’d get eggs from the chicken lady over by Lake Ontario. On hot summer days, we’d get eggs and also get to go in for a swim. I almost drown there --stuck inside an inner tube, upside down in the water. Good times! lol
Then, when we’d get home, we’d want our mother to crack all the eggs and look for the double yolk ones. It was so exciting just waiting to see what was inside. Many many times, at least every dozen, there would be a double yolk.
Sometimes, we’d get an unexpected fright. Because the egg lady was old, she’d miss getting some of the eggs away from the nest before the egg started to develop. My mother would crack the egg, and an embryo that had already started to become a chick would pop out in the pan. My mother would hurry and get it away from our eyes because we were so horrified by the sight.
We’d soon forget all about that and concentrate instead on the double yolk prize.
My husband is a twin. He’s an identical twin, chromosomally. He’s totally different, though, in character. Once long ago when he was very sick, his twin was there at his side and because of his twin, and the grace of God, my husband lived to see this day today.
Two is a special number.
