At least they are retired now, and somewhat less able to do real harm thru their administration and teaching authority.

Article excerpt:
Two conference keynote speakers included retired Archbishop Francis Hurley, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Bishop Joseph Sullivan, a retired auxiliary bishop of Brooklyn, N.Y., a frequent supporter of the homosexual movement in the Church.
The Pioneer Press quotes Bishop Sullivan: “It’s not about being orthodox or not being orthodox, it’s about being sensitively aware.” Archbishop Hurley condemned the Catholic understanding of homosexual desires as a disorder. “Can an inclination be intrinsically disordered?"
Hurley said, “The terminology carries too much baggage and should be dropped. And in no place in the document is there a mention of freedom of conscience. That’s the kind of thing we have to deal with in context with homosexuality.”
Pathetic and disgraceful. One gets the sense from the tone of the bishop’s comments that he is taking all this way TOO personal …:hmmm:
The conference also featured some of the big names in American Catholic dissident circles, including Dr. Richard McBrien of the University of Notre Dame who spoke on “Ordination to the Priesthood and Gay Men,”
Where is Donald Trump when you need him – “YOUR FIRED!!”

I think they can do more harm as they can travel more and give lectures to the unsuspecting.

Catholics were therefore surprised when Archbishop Harry Flynn, well known for his toleration of homosexual activism within his diocesan structures, sent a letter to New Ways saying that Holy Communion could not be offered at the New Ways conference.
Let’s be thankful for small blessings.

…and they are still considered bishops in good standing. And that’s the real sin in this whole abomination.

Enough of the lip service. When will Rome actually DO SOMETHING about these heretics in Roman Collars?

After the “The Sacrament of Reconciliation and Homophobia.” gets enough attention, I guess.

AsI recall, recently Bishop Gumbleton, who was to address a meeting of Voice of the Faithful, was ordered to stay home unless invited by the Bishop of the diocese where the meeting was being held. I think the order came from the Papal Nuncio. Maybe he will do the same for more retired bishops.

And if he could only extend that to Cardinal Mahony! 🙂

An archbishop condemned the Catholic understanding on a moral issue… That says all I need to know about this bishop. Also his query about whether an inclination can be intrinsically disordered is ridiculous. Is an alcoholics inclination to drink not a disorder? Is a kleptomaniacs inclination to steal not a disorder? Is a child molesters inclination for sexual conduct with a child not a disorder? Heck, is not man’s inclination to sin a disorder?

Some bishops will have much to answer for on judgement day.
