Maybe this will change that.
It is why I was so happy about the outcome. But from the comments of those who lost it doesn’t seem they understand. They still are touting that it was a minority.

Really, these recalls are not about guns. What infuriated us here in Colorado was the way these two politicians abused the legislative process.

Government needs to take action against peoples dangerous behaviors, such as gun ownership.
So you want the government to be a nanny? Many people want that, expecting a Mary Poppins or Nanny McPhee. Instead, the evil nanny from the second Addams Family movie would emerge.

Not necessarily.

It is typically American to think that all government is prepared to snap into tyranny if huddled masses with guns aren’t there to stop it. But if the leadership WE freely elect are all tyrant wannabes, what does that say about us???

You reminded me of what sister said in class. She said there were three things that made us a free country. 1. Faith in God and freedom to practice our faith 2. The education of the masses 3. The freedom to own guns. She said this about fifty years ago.

lol

keep telling yourself that Robert!! if people wanna kill themselves, than rather they have a gun or not, they will DO it!!

no matter the arguement u try and make for gun control, it has been tried and shown to b in effective! the same way that illegal drugs have stopped once they were named as illegal. oh wait, people still use illegal drugs don’t they?? :o

look at Chicago’s gun laws and look at their murder rate based on number of population. it’s obvious u have NO leg to stand on in this argument!

so if u do NOT wanna own a gun, DON’T!! 😉

I wish we could automatically trust those in power. But those in power are human and the temptation to acquire even more power at the expense of the governed is only natural, but undesirable.

Interesting article. That guns promote suicide is your conclusion. As I have already stated, trains are the leading cause in Germany for suicide according to your conclusion I must assume that trains promote suicide.

As I stated an interesting article, here are some other things it states
  1. Most indices of crime and gun violence are getting better, not worse
  2. Guns are used for self-defense often and effectively.

The suicide rate goes up as gun ownership goes up, even after controlling for the baseline suicide rate. If you read the article, you must have noticed that having a gun readily available makes suicide more likely whenever a person is experiencing any type of distress. Without having a gun readily available, the person is much more likely to get over their distress before they can plan and carry out suicide using another means!

Is there a study those shows that gun control cures suicidal thoughts as you claim?

Where is your evidence that suicide goes up with the rate of gun ownership?
Without a gun being available than there is rope, medicines and trains.
  1. Gun suicide is a bigger killer than gun homicide. From 2000 to 2010, “firearm-related suicides significantly outnumbered homicides for all age groups, annually accounting for 61 percent of the more than 335,600 people who died from firearm-related violence in the United States,” says the report. Firearm sales are often a warning: Two studies found that “a small but significant fraction of gun suicides are committed within days to weeks after the purchase of a handgun, and both also indicate that gun purchasers have an elevated risk of suicide for many years after the purchase of the gun

Robert, just stop deluding yourself. It’s all in your mind. The EVIDENCE is saying the exact opposite.

Japan has almost twice the rate of suicide as the United States, and…Japan has almost zero civilian gun ownership.

Yet there are countries with strict gun control, lower rates of gun ownership and higher suicide rates than the US. So, apparently not having a gun available isn’t really an impediment to committing suicide. Note, this paper only looked at Europe. You can find the same issue in Asian/Pacific countries.
