TULSA, Okla. — A man is in custody after two police officers were shot during a traffic stop in east Tulsa early Monday morning.

Tulsa police say a man shot two of their officers during the stop around 3:30 a.m. near 21st and Memorial.

Police say Johnson tried to use his taser before Ware grabbed it and Johnson pepper-sprayed him while trying to get him out of the car.

Both officers are in critical condition. This is a real tragedy.

It is tragic. It is also the result of LEO’s being bullied into using “less lethal” responses to avoid losing their careers and pensions…I’ve been places where an LEO would do this, and places where they’d have given me lead poisoning. Seems to vary on locales how officers respond. I’m a retired war veteran & can readily say that law enforcement is the last job I’d have wanted after being discharged. They are supposed to use “only necessary force,” while soldiers use “overwhelming” force. I’d not have made it.
 
BTW, the officers names are Sgt. Craig Johnson and Officer Aurash Zharkeshan. That 2nd name may actually be an Iranian name at that. Not that the name matters or makes it more important, it’s just kind of interesting. This is very hideous. Both in critical, both shot in the head which is a horror.

I wish people, especially given this is a Catholic website, would first start a thread on prayer for the souls and health of all concern…when concern shows up first on World News, it makes it appear that the politics of this issue come first; and charity only when someone points out the issue.
 
I wish commenters on this website would have more compassion for our courageous police, especially given this is a Catholic website. Perhaps more realism would help deter the bad guys from trying to kill police.
