May Sisters Paula and Margaret rest in peace and justice be served so this cannot happen to anyone else. They spent their lives helping others and may they embrace Jesus in heaven.

Mary.

From the article:
"“The poverty rate in Holmes County is 44%, and the median household income among the 18,000 residents is about $21,400.
“Many people have no health insurance because they can’t afford the premiums,” she says. “They make minimum wage.”
Some of the people come from other counties.
“We’re the only people that will see them,” she adds.
The Clarion Ledger of Jackson reported that Dr. Elias Abboud, the clinic owner, said the sisters raised money to help care for the poor.
“They would treat them for free,” he said.
The top church official in the area praised their years of helping others.
“These sisters have spent years of dedicated service here in Mississippi. They absolutely loved the people in their community,” said Bishop Joseph Kopacz of the Jackson Diocese.
Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said the sisters had made the community a better place to live and lamented their deaths.
“Unbridled love and care for mankind has been met with unparalleled savagery,” he said.”

Eternal rest grant them, O Lord
And let perpetual Light shine upon them.
May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed,
Through the mercy of God,
Rest in Peace.
Amen.
And may the person(s) who harmed these good sisters repent of their sin and find mercy and renewal in the love of our Lord.
Amen.

And not holding my breath to hear the media cry out that the hatred against Catholics and Christians could have anything to do with this.

It may have been a simple robbery, but had it been any of the popular ‘victim groups,’ we’d be hearing about it all over the media, all over social media, how the anti-Catholic feeling caused this. Funny, but apart from here, I haven’t heard a word about this.

The suspect has confessed to the crimes, but did not reveal a motive. He is being held without bond.

The death penalty is a possible sentence, however the district attorney indicated that she will consult with the families, and the religious order, of the two slain sisters before pursuing that.

Religious orders (plural).

Paula Merrill was a nun with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and her housemate Margaret Held was a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis.

They would have had to self-identify as consecrated religious for that to have been a motivating factor in their murder. Neither order wears a habit, crucifix or other item of apparel that would distinguish them from the laity.
